We need a combative CEO don’t think PIF are devoting much time, or thought to this if I’m honest beyond just complying with current rules. Feel this CEO appointment is crucial for future direction.
-
If it means where not giving them 30 million for Jacob Ramsey they can crack on for me.
-
Still think it’s a shame he hasn’t stayed on reading that, sounds like he’s supportive but challenging, which every boss should be, clearly rattled some close to Howe, but so what they’re all meant to be professionals, take it on the chin instead of leaking shit to the press. Shame he didn’t wait and see who the new CEO was going to be, feels a little bit like he’s used Eales departure as an excuse and history says he doesn’t remain in one place very long. Whole situation very disappointing for me.

Apart from Scalvini link it’s been heavily PL based links, unless you know otherwise this summer ? Last summer we chased a PL based CB all summer without any apparent plan b and the new sporting director thinking our scouting wasn’t fit for purpose ?
-
Where about to find out how flexible Eddie is prepared to be in the transfer market, if he handcuffs the club to targets with PL experience then we’ll be looking at 3 signings tops as we just don’t have the budget.
-
He’s definitely a Howe player but think in the Champions league you need a bit more craft, we’ve got raw pace in Gordon on one side, we looked technically way short last time in Europe and Elanga doesn’t solve that for me.
-
Think Trafford is the one signing I see with a really high ceiling, think he could transform our play from the back and looks to have huge potential. I agree about Elanga very hard at the fee being quoted to think that it’s a good deal, he’s a speed merchant and one trick pony.
-
Was Pedro even going to play week in and week out ? Just can’t see without a change in formation where he would have played, 50 million for a back up striker would have been a luxury. Go get Trincao, or the lad from Monaco and fill a position we need on the right and give us some creativity in the final third.
-
Aye more likely some Saudi club offers them 100 million for Rigg at the minute.
-
Aye he’s clearly talented but part of me thinks we’ve dodged a bullet.
-
No way we sign DCL it would be a fucking awful signing.
-
Hope you’re right but not so sure, we’ll have a much better idea at the end of the window.

Elliot Anderson (now playing for Nottingham Forest)

Bit galling we’ve still got Longstaff and Willock, when this lad would have been perfect for us going forward. -
We did came very close to getting him and Nickson is a big fan, been brilliant for Strasbourg this season and Chelsea haven’t gave him any minutes in this shit world club cup.
-
Andrey Santos still not getting any minutes for Chelsea, he had a great season in France last year and we scouted him at Vasco. Still only 21 Brazilian and would be perfect cover for this season, we should be all over it.
-
I think it’s 50/50 whether they stay up they won’t be as outmatched as some think and I think their recruitment is smart, think Mayenda will be a handful and the new lad has pace and physicality. Think Wolves and Brentford could join promoted sides in peril this season.
-
Said this for ages we are trying to spread a limited budget to thinly across multiple needs. Mitchell may not be popular but he’s right our transfer policy isn’t fit for purpose. Yes it’s got us so far but now we’ve had 3 windows where we can’t spend and from the targets where after I just see rinse and repeat. We’ve acquired some blue chip players but you’re correct they all had question marks, including Isak who’s goal record was atrocious for Sociedad in his last season.
-
Think they work from a very small pool of targets and share your cynicism. Where not nimble in the market and the narrative will change shortly to a couple of quality additions, tin hat on but I predict already we’ll start next season massively under equipped for the season ahead.
-
Other targets after Guehi we didn’t appear to have a plan b last summer.
-
I’ll be amazed if Pedro or Elanga end up signing, it’s to be hoped we’ve done our due diligence and have other targets.
-
Not really some good players can be picked up in French league, a certain Bryan Mbeumo being one example.
-
Time will tell but I like these type of signings, let’s hope he’s not better value than 50 million plus on Elanga.
-
Type of signing they need to make to have a chance, no point signing PL journeymen. Looks like Leeds wanted him as well, bit of Dennis Wise scouting looks predominantly right sided, but looks to have physicality needed for Prem. Going to go against the grain here and as much as I hate the bastards, think they look to have a good transfer policy for where they are at min.

After Fender mania great to see another staunch NUFC fan headlining Glasto tonight. Sorry wrong thread.
