  1. Begs the question why they didn’t give us the full stand tonight.
  2. Hopefully you’re right but I could see a fair few being up in arms, these environmentalists rarely see the upside of things like this, expect a fierce battle if it went this route. A useable park in the heart of the city with a lake etc, would be a real asset to the city though and I really think club should be thinking along these lines. SJP is not fit for purpose in terms of facilities and overall experience, I actually find the place grim these days, the view and atmosphere in large swathes of the stadium are a pretty soulless experience.
  3. Not so sure think the Nimbys from Spital Tongues and folk who have nothing better to do with their time will campaign against it, unfortunately even an enhanced and better park wouldn’t pacify the tree huggers and swampy brigade.
  4. Middle of the road club only considered big because of Clough.
  5. Forrest still owe us a significant amount of Chris Wood fee apparently, deal might turn out cheaper than looks on paper.
  6. Why would I have an agenda very bizarre. The first paragraph is supported by press reports around make up of transfer committee changing. edit supported by Chris Waugh article in Athletic - Newcastle’s transfer committee has evolved since the early days, when Howe, Jason Tindall, his assistant, Steve Nickson, the head of recruitment, and Amanda Staveley, one of the club’s co-owners, did pretty much everything. Dan Ashworth, the sporting director, is now prominent, Darren Eales, the chief executive, looks at the financial picture, while Andy, Howe’s nephew, is an influential voice on scouting. https://theathletic.com/4593284/2023/06/09/newcastles-summer-transfer-window-budget-targets/
  7. I suggest you read my replies to you, as it’s 2 transfer windows not 1. The first 2 windows the balance was correct and I’ll give you the 5 out of 12 even though that includes Trippier who had PL experience. The last 2 windows are very much linked though as they stated they brought the Gordon purchase forward from the summer. As for data sample 2 windows is small, but in my opinion there has been a shift towards PL experience at premium prices, which in light of our FFP situation I now question the rationale behind what we’ve done. Could we have got better value abroad, yes in my opinion and do local journalists who have briefed that PL experience is a major factor know more than most on here, yes I would say they do. Should we now go out and sign Kone this window I’ll reconsider my hunch, but if we go and commit 50 million plus for the Everton midfielder in the summer based on he has PL experience, I’ll still be very much of the opinion that Howe has again prioritised PL experience over value.
  8. It wouldn’t be a massive assumption to suggest a managers influence on all things club related increases the longer they are there ? Such as being able to get your nephew a job as 1st team analyst ?
  9. The majority of the 5 were when Nickson was largely pulling the strings, there has been a change in the transfer committee with Ashworth and Andy Howe since then. No wind up and not dying on any hill it’s an opinion, fine to disagree but don’t get so excited.
  10. What’s incorrect about what I stated, disregard Minteh who was a development signing, 4 of last 5 signings are from the PL fact.
  11. He clearly prefers PL experience where have 4 of the last 5 signings come from ?
  12. A constant narrative from the local press pack is that Howe prefers PL experience, the links to certain players is no coincidence and are players Howe clearly rates. I have no doubt if Howe was given the option right now of Connor Gallagher, McTominay, Phillips, Kone, or Thuram, he’d choose any of the first 3 mentioned. Like him as a coach but want him as far away from transfers as possible.
  13. Eddie needs to seriously get over this, he obviously prefers we pay the premium for a lesser player with PL experience.
  14. Wilson and Trippier out Sesko and Kone in. Win
  15. This season does have the feel of the Cole sale, then the rebuild the following season.
  16. Yeah club considered it cheaper to keep players on long contracts then deal, sad to see him go but Tino softens blow massively.
  17. Watched him last summer play in same team as Kephren Thuram and funnily enough against Tonali, looked the best out of all 3.
  18. Love the bloke but where entering a new phase of the project and we may have to accept it makes sense.
  19. This is the man we need been saying it for the last year, completely different to what we’ve got and tailor made for the PL.
  20. Where definitely interested in Sesko for the summer my source DigBick confirmed this months ago, talks have taken place and pizza face is late to the table on this.
  21. Interesting video on Buffalo’s new stadium and what’s gone into it. Think Populous who the club are using are involved and they’ve taken quite a bit from Spuds new stadium when designing it. Also being built right next to their current stadium, it’s all about the fan experience and sight lines in new stadium. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYJxJdICI1I
  22. Fucking hell bad end to the week for this lot, they were still recovering from the earth shattering news that M&S has decided to shut their chicken town store ffs.
  23. Think announcement on new training ground and associated sponsorship will be the big development before end of season.
  24. Constant Howay The Lads against Burnley and listen to that support when Hughes was going up to lift the cup. Hairs on the back of neck stuff and just compare that to the piss poor support last year at Wembley. Night and fucking day.
  25. Billing , McTominay and Phillips 3 players I hope never grace the black and white stripes. I’d like to think where trying to be a bit smarter whilst battling FFP and trying to bridge the gap.
