Think midfielder is crucial with playing the 3, but if Pope got injured we’d be fucked as well.

It’ll be something like DCL to replace Wilson if we do, just can’t see the budget being there for another major splash at the numbers being quoted for Elanga/Trafford.

We pay 60 million for Elanga where getting a CB, Trafford and that’s it in my opinion. Think it’ll leave us dangerously short up front and in midfield for the season. I think we’d have to be pretty disastrous in the CL not to have at least 10 extra games next season. Really think some wheeling and dealing with Longstaff/Willock is required to get the squad fit for purpose.

One thing we’ll not lack is pace up front, Gordon, Isak and Elanga will terrorise defenders away from home. Personally think it’s just more of the same and would have preferred a different style of player to break down a tight defence at home. In saying this the best attack I ever seen in the flesh was Giggs, Hughes and Kanchelskis, the pace and directness was frightening and if our 3 can emulate that I won’t be complaining.
