I just don’t see who he get's in ahead of if everyone is fit, I get the Bruno is wasted sitting deep argument but it’s working at the moment, so why change until we get a suitable DM. All the metrics are better without Shelvey i.e. running and keeping possession. I’m bemused why anyone is waiting for the return of Shelvey to this team. We’re currently a mobile pressing team who are outrunning the opposition, why the fuck does anyone want that plodder back pinging balls out of play for 90mins ? Arguably our best performance in years was at home to Arsenal with Bruno, Joelinton and Longstaff playing, folk have short memories. If all the return of Shelvey is about is playing Bruno further up the pitch, then i hope Eddie’s got more sense than some on here as Bruno is doing just great in the current line up.

Castle Leazes or the Arena site are both great alternatives to St Jame’s, maybe the arena site has sailed now but Castle Leazes allows us to keep our current capacity while it’s built. All the reasons Castle Leazes was the best choice in the 90’s still hold sway now. It still keeps match trade in the city centre, it’s purpose built with great acoustics, sight lines (half the ground aren’t stuck in the gods),wide concourses, we can increase corporate revenue and have affordable general ticketing to get the younger generation in, we could have a Wembley way type walkway through a new park on the current site and it frees up Leazes Terrace to oversee new park. SJP is great in many ways but let’s not kid ourselves the atmosphere would go with a new stadium at Castle Leazes, the current ground doesn’t hold the noise well since redevelopment to 52k. I’d have no objection to the club moving to Castle Leazes and building a 65k stadium to rival the very best.

Some fans still don’t seem to appreciate how this takeover has changed the landscape. Simply the best thing about this takeover is that nobody will sign our players unless we choose to.

Feels like a genuine big game this for the first time in years. They’re not what they we’re but win here and I think people will start to really take us seriously for the first time in fucking years.

An increase in capacity by mirroring the Gallowgate with Leazes end would be disastrous for atmosphere in my opinion. The 52k redeveloped SJP doesn’t hold the noise like it did when 36k under Keegan. If the club are set on staying at SJP I hope they can come up with some spectacular style single tier stand for the Gallowgate, what increase in capacity that would bring though I have no idea.

100% agree they can redevelop the Gallowgate all they want, but as long as the East Stand remains in its current guise it will never be a world class stadium. I honestly think a redevelopment of St Jame’s will involve far more than simply sticking another tier on the Gallowgate. The owners have stated they want to be best in class. The only way to do this and remain on current site is to move the stadium up towards the Leazes multi story car park to create space for Leazes Terrace. They could certainly start building the new structure like Spurs did with the current ground remaining open, but there would come a point when St Jame’s would have to be closed and where do we play then. Massive hurdles remain in staying at St Jame’s and I agree the Castle Leazes site still makes more sense, with the current ground being given up as a usable park in a land exchange. Leazes Terrace would have open views across the new park surely a win win for all concerned.
