At least he does fly around, unlike both Hayden and Shelvey. Hayden is going backwards, both in effectiveness and work rate. Shelvey is so slow he's always looked like he's going backwards. Edit. That said, I wouldn't want Choudry.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt, maybe covid had had some effect on his stamina/fitness levels? Since he has been ill (maybe before), his head and work rate drop the moment we go behind. And when he gets fouled, no matter how "lightly" he takes an eternity to get up and he always looks like he's about to go off injured. Contrast that with Declan Rice who runs through walls for 90 mins. ASM is my favourite player, unreal natural talent, but I will like him a lot more once he is able to put in a full 90 min shift, he bounces back up from being fouled and he looks 100% committed for a full game. If he can't/won't do that, then he will never realise his full potential and he will always be a "luxury" player who could have been so much more. Early days I know and there is plenty of time for him to improve mentally and physically, but he certainly needs to.

I really wish I could hide a thread from view. Don't like Benitez, don't like Everton and I'm sick of seeing this thread continually bumped to the top of the page (I know by writing this I've just bumped it again).,

If only we had a decent manager. Best squad for years and a clueless manager. Doesn't have a plan A never mind a plan B. Crying shame.
-
Unfortunately not, otherwise I'd be trousering a nice wedge for getting him 6 years.
-
While six years is lengthy he fully deserves a new contract. He is a decent played with really good pace, which is definitely lacking in the side. He will be an excellent squad player and he would command a decent fee if were to cash in. No brainer for me.
-
Not a fan of his, so fine by me. It'll be very interesting to see what style of football he gets Everton playing...

All at Wembley, 3 wins, 1 draw, a net busting tally of 4 goals and non conceded, beating Germany in a knock out comp for the 1st time in 55 years, quarter finals, gong already in the pocket after a mighty world cup showing, surely now, arise Sir G Southgate. Another shockingly tedious display, but at least we're still in the competition.

Got the best attacking squad in years and an absolutely dog sh1t defensive manager. So bloody negative, like we're sh1t scared of them.

I'm in the minority, but I think he's the most overrated player we've got. Just an average keeper, good at some things and poor in others. Can't recollect him ever being linked with a top club in all the time we've had him, which says something? -
We've got the players, it's Southgate, he is useless. Team selections, tactics, substitutions all absolutely crazy. Same as the last World Cup, we should have got to the final (we will never get it as easy again) and he comes home to a ridiulous fanfare and he gets a gong. Unbelievable.
-
Obviously, I'm in the minority but I didn't want to see Benitez back - he doesn't play the type of football I like, he also bailed out when the majority of fans wanted (begged) him to stay. Easy to blame Ashley etc. for him leaving, but I think the money (greed) was the main factor. If he goes to Everton I'll be very interested to see what style of football he adopts there - maybe he'll prove me wrong and they'll play great to watch football and I'll end up eating my words? Anyway, roll on the takeover asap and Bruce getting sacked...
-
He's a waste of a squad place. He needs to be sold (given away), out on loan, contract terminated or if the worse comes to the worse, just not given a squad place like Colback, Saviet etc.
-
Another very good game. It would be criminal if he didn't get a new contract.
-
Dubravaka's been absolutely shite. Stood on his line for the whole game. Kicking worse than a Sunday keeper. Handling of the ball bouncing everywhere. And the goal. Shite.

To answer the comments aimed at me by the Dubrava fans that have commented to my earlier post, my view as already mentioned, is that they are both very similar in terms of strengths and weaknesses. Neither can kick or dominate their area and they both like to stay on the line more than they should, especially from corners. They are both good at shot stopping and reaction saves but, for me, Darlow is better in one-on-one situations. So, it's a very close call, but I just prefer Darlow. The game is all about opinions and it would be a poorer place without them. -

I agree with The Mag, I think he's okay but very overrated on this forum imho. He, doesn't dominate his area and his kicking has always been woeful. I know I'm probably in the minority, but I prefer Darlow although there's not much between them, they both have similar strengths and weaknesses. -
Hendrick FFS. Longstaff or Murphy should be on before him. In fact Darlow before him.
-
Can't stand G Hoddle and A Smith. Rest are tolerable.
-
Willock, completely forgot he was on the pitch. Borrowed Hendrick's invisble shirt.

Agreed, I'm in the unpopular camp with you. -
Hendrick keeps his place. FFS. :'(
-
Bruce can f*** right off if he's dropped Darlow.

Good performance. No better than Darlow. Spends too much time rooted to his line to make him exceptional.
