Arsenal vs Newcastle United - 18/01/21 @20:00 - Live on SkySports and in VR

Palace showed last night you don't need a third centre back to defend against Arsenal. Might be giving Bruce a bit too much credit here, but don't think he trusts any of the midfielders off the ball (rightly so) and relies on having 5 at the back and sitting deep, so we don't get pummelled. His own limited grasp of coaching/doing tactics means his only answer to us not getting battered is 10 men in our own half all game. The Hodge and Lewington at Palace are much better coaches than the Steves and can get a 442 that can defend, be functional and still work at getting players into attacking positions on the break. -
Saw something about Allardyce telling politicians to stay out of football regarding covid and celebrations. He's got a point, but... All coming from a bloke who last week wanted football to be stopped completely though...
-
This one has everything, all the favorites Made a mistake because they were too attacking trying to win a game... Wes Brown, made a mistake, not going to hold him responsible though. Despite naming him and his mistake in that exact interview Can't keep making excuses... Highlighting fans frustration, as if he's continually being persecuted and questioned unfairly on him being s***... Not going to quit/hide/walk away... Thinly veiled promises it'll be better next time round... Dust worselfs down Challenge

Wish he'd come out and said he screwed up after the match against SU, instead of just trying to deflect it onto VAR and some bloke on a tele 300 miles away. At least that would have gone a small way to show us he was some bollocks as a man, some bight back; like he really gave a shit, and was actually angered and hurt by how shit they were whole game. Amazing how he can get everything so wrong, so often. Does himself no favours.

Arsenal could still be playing now from last night and wouldn't have scored. Another 541 entrenchment, with any relative success in Bruce's podgy beady eyes defined by how many limbs and bodies Darlow and the centre backs can get in the way. He's always struck me as being a petty arsehole when it comes to dropping players for making mistakes, especially defenders. So seeing as Clark and Fernandez have both ballsed up for Arsenal and Sheff to score from wouldn't suprise me if he makes changes at the back. Lascelles/Schar/Hayden sort of thing There's bound to be a new and untried method of making us even shitter we haven't thought of, Joelinton holding midfield.... -
Whoever suggested the other day instead of sacking him and giving him his payout, should stick him on furlough instead

Roeder had integrity. Also his health to think of. He actually cared about this club imo. Played for us, so clearly understood the club. More of a 'geordie' that the suet pudding who's in charge now. Falsely professes to understand/love/support the club because he was born in the area and was a fan as a kid, manages Sunderland, turns down approaches whilst we were challenging for Europe to stay at Birmingham/Wigan, and refer to Man United as 'United' whilst being sat in SJP.
-
Roeder resigned

That's nothing more than a glorified backhander to Mendes and Porto surely A golden thank you for sorting out some quality deals and players last few years

Can't see fans being able to attend. The best solution would surely be in London. Similar to how the end of CL was held in Lisbon, just that London has plenty of stadiums to host a competition from. Hold the competition in one city, limit travel etc. Wembley, Stamford Bridge, Emirates, WHL, London Stadium, then even Craven Cottage, Selhurst, Brentford's new place
-
Pepe probably worst because highest fee, but Joelinton and Haller probably on par... Honerable mention to Chelsea - Kepa, Morata, Batshuayi, Drinkwater, Bakayoko and back in the day Torres
-
Kidnapped by squirrels apparently. Ashley refuses to pay the ransom. Red or Grey?
-
What the hell has happened to Arsenal... Lacazette and Auba used to be 20+ a season strikers, now look so meh. Bellerin looked best RB in league few seasons ago. Smith-Rowe looks decent, but all there young players that have come in last year quickly go off the boil. Tierney's the best player by a mile every time I've watched them
-
Ray Lewington drying me crazy listening to Arsenal game, even with crowd noise on.
-
Lucas Piazon finally left Chelsea after 10 years! 1 apperance under Rafa in 8-0 win against Villa in 2012 Been on loan at Malaga, Vitesse, Frankfurt, Reading, Fulham, Chievo, Rio Ave

Nedum Onuoha gone under the radar with this one; was saying Sheff U should sign the big man Where do the BBC keep finding these cretins “I think because of the fact they have scored nine goals in the league this year. I think they need to bring in a striker who is a different type of threat to what they have tried so far. “For me, somebody with a point to prove, because for the past couple of years he has not done much at all, even if it was to be a loan, is for them to bring in an Andy Carroll, so they have got an aerial threat. “Not just to score headers in the box and so on. It means they can get the ball front to back and bring in their attacking players in a different sort of way – So, bring someone in who brings in a sense of chaos and just go for it.”

If were hiring managers on their increasing rotundness...

Villa away, another no-fans-around bullet dodged by the fat oaf
-
Thought he was in for the England job didn't he

Think in Europe fans/ultras make the managers life a living hell, and probably increased pressure from board level too for coaches to resign. Not the done thing in England. Not going to get fans outside training ground each day giving him dogs abuse, outside his house, calling him a c*** in Waitrose, spitting in his kebab meat chips.
-
Could be a different story if fans were in the ground. He'd surely be getting boo'd off at half time, full time, sacked in the morning chants from home/away end, general abuse from fans. Pressure on him would be higher then, and he'd be bound to feel a bit of guilt in being hated so much despite him being a 'geordie' and this being 'his club'. Not a chance he's walking until then.

Say you've just scored from a corner, everyone all bunched up and close then, but you can't be close and touching each other to celebrate 10 seconds later. I don't think Benteke bundling one in tonight and lifting a shirt is going to make a difference. I think if people haven't got the message now, and don't know the rules - they're choosing not to. Players spend all week together, been marking each other in training all week, stood in a tunnel next to each other, and spend the whole game in potential physical contact with anyone on the pitch. Anyone in the media bothering us with this ill thought out nonsense should really worry about bigger issues going on.

Looking forward to picking Kevin Long up on a freebie to replace Schar in the summer

Steve #2 will become Head Steve, with Steve #3 become Steve #2, and Shola becoming the new Steve #3... If that fails, we can promote Steve #3 who's actually now Steve #2 to become top Steve; with Shola now becoming Steve #2, and bring back Sammy to become Shola. Try that until Shola's in charge with Sammy and Tomi
