It’d take a totally unique run of results not just by us, but the four teams below us also, to see any risk of relegation. It’s never going to happen.

Even if they do pick up points, another two of Leeds (2+), Burnley (7+) and Watford (9+) also need to pick up more points than us. It’s just not going to happen. Even with tonight’s win, Burnley would need to get 50% of their points from their first 29 games, in 9 games to overhaul us. One win and a draw and it’s almost guaranteed. Three of those teams won’t reach 35 points.

Pretty much the whole team should be though, that’s the problem. We have no alternatives to our starting 11 and that allows good teams to stifle us. Take ASM out of the game at the moment and we’re toothless. Problem is it’s relatively easy to do that because he’s limited. Same with Wilson when he’s fit. Wood, Krafth, Lascelles, Darlow, Gayle, Clark, Dummett, Hayden, Lewis, Longstaff, Ritchie are all Championship players. Majority of them aren’t even good enough to be squad players.

Only way the relegation places will change is if Burnley win tomorrow. Although it’s fairly conceivable Everton could lose (or pick up minimal points in) their next five if they get beat tomorrow though, which would be hilarious. The thing I love most, if they do stay up, will be their mental gymnastics when they realise they’ve only stayed up because of Rafa’s great start to the season.
