Mate spot on, and to be fair I think the Rangers thing was 100% funded by the club. Also it was their 150 anniversary so not like it was an every match occurrence. Just saw the pics and thought it looked good as it seemed to be worn throughout the game. Anyway, I didn’t mean to bring it up as a “this is what GF should be doing” I was just having a back and forth recently waxing lyrical about our displays and my brother in law showed me that. Got my first season ticket at the start of the Robson era. Brilliant times, fearless team!

I only managed to start getting tickets for games through selling the Mag before I was 16, and had been on a season ticket waiting list for a few years before. Edit - and I was Newcastle daft before all of that. Had kits, annuals, posters, duvet sets, the lot.

Can see there being an even stronger anti-protest movement for them as they associate protest with being “mags”. To be honest most of them seem to have such a miserable time at the landfill that being wiped off the map might be a blessing.

We could do with getting a sense of perspective about this. Since the season began, we have kept in touch with the other teams without him in the side. Yes we are a much much better side with him in, but the other contenders also need to start putting wins together to reel us in. Maybe they will, but we’re ones improving.

RTG twats aside, and even though I love to hate them, I feel a bit sorry for them. Another example of absolute parasites at a club that is at the heart of its (admittedly shite) community. Most Mackems I’ve met in teal life are sounds lads and I feel for them.

At Rangers, Gerrard playing 4 at the back with Tavernier and Barisic as wing backs worked because they were dominating possession against vastly inferior opposition. Granted they had some brilliant wins in Europe, but it’s not a risk to do that against St Mirren or Dundee or Ross County, in the same way as it is trying to do the same with Villa in the PL. Could be why they’re shipping goals and Digne looks meh.

Have a mate who is a Villa fan and he’s been saying the same. Seems to think McGinn is an issue too - lots of energy, but not positionally disciplined. He kind of plays like that for Scotland tbf, but he has a few players around him that give him a licence to roam. What’s the deal with Chukwuema? Is he ready to step up? Heard lots of hype.
