I’m amazed at how well he has done to be quite honest. But again, it’s a guy that is coming into a team knowing exactly what his role is, everyone around him functioning at their optimum and the system allowing him to be aggressive, which is a major strength. What has made my jaw drop at times is his passing, but again, it takes two people to complete the pass so maybe he’s not been as shit at this as previously thought, but there are passes that he’s being encouraged to make because the system makes it possible. Coaching eh, who’d have thought it.

There was one other moment that stood out for me. I think it was first half, he got the ball and was being pressed by two of their players. Instead of walloping it forward he does a really neat feint/turn and takes them both out of the game. As amazing as woodgate was I dont remember him having that in his locker. Fab is vital to our build up.

He had a great first half I thought. His level dipped second half with a few dodgy passes, but I thought he looked gassed when he got taken off, because his technique/radar was off.

Just got in. I’m feeling some emotions. For those 4 lads to score, in that kind of atmosphere. It just makes me fucking smile man. Not only did we beat them, we put this fucking city back on the map. At times the celebrations were unlike anything I’ve seen at SJP. Lads getting launched rows for the first goal. I’ve only experienced that at the odd away game or in the cup semi final vs Chelsea when Rob Lee scored. Wor flags, what another amazing show. Those lads deserve a lifetime of free drinks.
