I’ve said it before but we’ve fucked this window already. Eddie wanted us to move fast to secure our targets. We’ve now seen why. Playing a game of brinkmanship with Pedro, Trafford, Ekitike, Delap, Mbeumo…maybe some of those wouldn’t have come but we’ve not met valuations, and opened the door to the big six by not getting in fast. Who were our top 2 targets? We should have done our work, paid the fee and looked at cheaper options for the rest.

Absolutely. They’re just doing exactly what what we would if anyone came in for our stars - demand a premium and tell them fuck off if they aren’t prepared to meet it. It’s exactly why we need to be looking elsewhere. If we can’t just meet the price for a club that aren’t needing to sell, we need to take advantage of positions elsewhere and be smarter

Think it would be madness to ship Barnes like, but I can see a logic - keep Gordon, Joelinton and maybe Ramsey, ship Barnes and Willock and thus brings in a solution to RW. Lowers the age, provides more flexibility. Barnes, for all that he brought to us last year, is beyond peak value, in a position we may have cover in and only plays one position.

We need a signing like 🤣. I have to say I agree with TCD in the sense that I don’t get the distinction when people say talent and athletic ability as separate things. I personally don’t see where technical ability ends and some form of physical attribute starts. It feels like a very blurry thing - vision, passing, movement, ball striking are all acts executed via an elite athlete, and can be trained.

I think the positive but if this is that it sort of reaffirms the commitment the club and Eddie have to each other. I can’t see this being anything other than us backing him. From the playing side to the whole identity and togetherness of the club, Eddie sets the tone. I want recruitment to be shared with experienced football people, but ultimately with Eddie having the final say.
