He - and let’s be honest every other youth player we’ve hoovered up in the last 24 months that people are getting attached to - are seen just as much as future income as they are future NUFC players.

Minteh did exactly what he was meant to do - arrive, increase in value and get flipped for a big profit. Our treatment of him from the moment he signed made it very transparent. The reason that clubs are going down the route of trading youth is that it’s an inherently less risky approach than selling your best players and hoping you can reinvest in equivalent quality.

He’s a perfectly adequate left back when playing with a keeper who isn’t trapped in his six yard box. As a centre back though, he’s a colossus. It shouldn’t come as a surprise given how good he was during his first half season really.

He had some great games at left back towards the end of last season. It seems daft to write him off on the basis of the first game of this. EDIT: fwiw I don’t think he was particularly bad. Early yellow wasn’t great, and he had a ten minute period in the second half where he kept trying to play little flicks and losing possession. I don’t think anyone in defence deserves anything other than credit for how they kept them out given the circumstances.
