Big game this. Before the season most would say our main rivals for ‘best of the rest’ would have been West Ham, Leicester and Wolves. The start to the season has been great and we are already 4-5 points clear of all of them. These are the games we need to be winning to give us the best chance of European football. If we win this, 7 clear of Wolves already, and possibly Leicester too if they lose to Chelsea. Big opportunity!

The good thing is he doesn’t even have to be a massive dick about it. All he needs to do is tell them that he won’t sign a new deal and would like to leave - Leicester will then know that our offer is the most they will get and as each window passes his value decreases. They wont want the Tielemans situation again with Maddison in 12 months time so I still think there is an outside chance of this one happening, providing we are still interested of course.

Possibly gives us more leverage with Watford now, signing both would be great but seems unlikely - however I think it’s clear that no one outside of the club has any accurate info on budgets etc so it’s entirely possible we get both.

People believe Romano because he has built a reputation of always being right. Yes he is a tap in merchant, but the fact remains that he only usually says ‘here we go’ on done deals. Edwards is a fucking moron and his record is average at best. it seems all the Newcastle based journalists are saying it’s not done however there has been 1 or 2 others alongside Romano who said it’s done so I guess this info would come from the Watford end.

Taking everything you hear at face value is a bit naive. Howe has always refused to comment on specific players previously, but has now given a direct update on Pedro. That in itself is more telling than the actual words that came from Howes mouth IMO. Even if it was all done, Howe isn’t going to break the news himself in a pre match press conference.
