I remember someone saying we are lucky to get 8 million for Almiron…
-
This most likely was here already, but anyway I think if we get a decent fee he is off. He seems to want to join, we already have a replacement and FFP-wise it makes sense.
-
Thank God we didn't get Harrison. Such an average player and fee was something like 40 million?
-
And if we play Hayden and he proves to be shit, we cannot loan him out again.

It is a civil case in Canada. How is it possible to put a claim about things that happened in Saudi Arabia in Canadian court? We all know that KSA is a shithole country and that story also proves MBS is a despot with no regards for human rights. MBS claims this guy embezzled money and he claims they did all kinds of nasty stuff to his family. God knows what is truth here..

This season has been over league-wise for 2 months. With these injuries we are asking too much from our players. We cannot press and therefore we are not defensively solid anymore. Last year we could park the bus and play ugly. Concentrate on the FA Cup and top10 finish. We are building the team for years to come, cannot be asking players like Almiron and Longstaff to overperform week in week out. We just don't have the squad to compete with the top teams. Already without Bruno we are lost.
-
KDB goal so easy. Just drift behind Longstaff, pass there and boom A similar to City scoring against us at Etihad, drift behind left sided 8.
-
Like people have said, huge space infront of our back 4. It is going to cost us.
-
I have to say, they are bloody good. Sadly there is a huge gap in quality still.
-
Ridiculous. Clear offside and a player gets injured because it was not given straightaway.
-
We just sold Saint-Maximin, a player who was constantly injured, on a bigger wage than Almiron, who scored 12 goals in Premier league during his 4 seasons here (less than 1 in 6), for 25 million. Yes, he is 3 years younger, but I certainly I really don't understand your point. And yes, he was our best attacking player under Bruce, in a team that was almost relegated every year.
-
50-60k a week is not very much to be honest. And I think he knows his next wage will be smaller no matter where he ends up. I am not bigging up anyone. I am saying what 10-20 million buys you these days. 12 million got us Matt Targett. 1 in 6 winger means he scores 6 goals a season. From that list, how many have got that? Miggy Almiron certainly is a "proven performer of certain level" and that level is Premier League. Is he a top EPL player? No, but that is why you get him for that price. 10-20 million does not get you a "top player" like my list shows. It gets you someone like Jacob Murphy or Miggy Almiron. You are singling out Xhaka from there, because most likely he is one of the few you know from that list. And Xhaka was signed by CL club in top5 league, Almiron is at the moment playing regularly for one.
-
In the last year, following EPL players have been sold/bought for 10-20 million: Granit Xhaka Milos Kerkez Romain Favre Mark Flekken Igor Zeki Amdouni Aaron Ramsey James Trafford Sander Berge Jordan Beyer Wilson Odobert Angelo Deivid Washington Djordje Petrovic Edouard Mendy Ruben Loftus-Cheek Dean Henderson Chermiti Timothy Castagne Jordan Henderson Anthony Elanga Chris Wood Murillo Gustavo Hamer Vini Souza Iliman Ndiaye Guglielmo Vicario Alejo Veliz Harry Winks Konstantinos Mavropanos Nikola Vlasic Jean-Ricner Bellegarde Santiago Bueno And you are saying that Paraguay international, who has scored a goal in every 6th game for Newcastle is totally not in the same league as these players?
-
If Saudi club pays 25+ for Saint-Maximin, I see no reason why we couldn't get 10-20 million for Almiron. Andros Townsend was twice bought for 12-13 million. But the biggest thing is to get rid of all the players we are not using.
-
Almiron certainly can bring 10-20 million, Wilson not much true, but wages also quite a number. Botman is great, and we shouldn't sell him, but I think he also has a price. Problem is our squad is full of total crap from Ashley-era. That is why this whole thing takes time.
-
I don't know why someone is so against us selling big player. Players like Almiron or Wilson certainly should be available to someone, Pope?, and Botman also has a price. I understand that Bruno or Isak are untouchables.
-
I think the 73 million loss means we are not going to make significant transfers. If the limit is 105 million loss or whatever in 3 years, certainly we must be selling club now? We made quite an investment in January 22 also.
-
City still favorites. Especially with KDB and Haaland to come back.

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)
KingArthur replied to Rich's topic in Football
Europa. We can rotate there too, and it brings some revenue + chance to win something. -
True, I do not see it. Because he also is HG. But FFP wise that gives more boost. Almiron is most likely I would say.
-
Oh yes, forgot it. Then he will be released and Burn takes his place as a backup. New right sided CB needed still. If we buy 4 players good enough to start, I would be more than happy. Left back is a bit of concern if Hall doesn't pick it up. It might more than 4, with some young players replacing the likes of Ritchie, Krafth, Manquillo, Dummett and Lascelles.
-
It took 4 years like I said. If the owners want us to challenge sooner, then they would have need to spend money a lot more. Which they cannot, because FFP. At the the end of 2020s, we will be constantly top4.
-
Lascelles maybe also 1 that can be sold but we aren't getting much money. Targett injured, Manquillo out of contract, Dubravka? Maybe. Murphy of course can be sold for few millions. If we sign quality players, 4 players is good enough. 50-100 million for a RW and DM, Young pacey RCB, and young CF. most likely 150 million spend, so cannot see us spend any more than that
-
Naah, you have to be realistic mate. If our revenue is same as wage bill of the biggest teams, we are not challenging a thing. We were close to winning a cup already. Saudis are building a team and the academy totally from the scrap. Abu Dhabi bought City 2008 and they won first title in 2012 when they could spend all the money they wanted. It will take double that for us.
-
Because our fringe players are so ultimately shit, like Hayden, Hendrick, Krafth, Ritchie etc, it really slows down our squad building. We cannot sell them to anyone, but just getting them off the wage bill is something ofc. Maybe Longstaff could be sold, but for how much? 10 million? Does that help. Same with Almiron. We can get something from him, but need something like 50 million to buy the replacement, if Minteh is not good enough yet. We need: CB to cover Schär DM to help rotate Bruno or play with double pivot RW to replace Almiron Young CF to rotate with Wilson and Isak and ultimately replace Wilson.
