  1. Amorims major malfunction isn’t even his tactics it’s his man management. He falls out with too many players, and you get the impression a lot of the others have no faith in him.
  2. Botman is naturally going to be frustrated, he wants to start. He missed last season and won’t want to watch this one go by too. Around February/ March last season Burn was creaking so he will get his chance in time. I love Burn but Botman can play at a higher level
  3. Hope he’s fined 6 weeks wages for the missing games today. Or whatever the max fine is.
  4. Everything has to be done by 9pm, so agreeing a deal at 7pm would only give two hours for all the paperwork and medical etc.
  5. Wissa’s hissy fit shows that the club still have a live interest in him. That one could happen if Brentford get an offer they are happy with. I think that needs Liverpool to blink first and make the big Isak bid, as the club won’t overpay for Wissa unless the Isak fee justifies it. Brentford will be the real financial winners of hardball on Isak, although Brentford don’t want that particular win.
  6. Honestly this is straight from Liverpools PR team, they are the club that needs a striker signing, not Brentford, not Wolves, not here. Liverpools game here is to try and panic PIF etc, but sit tight and Liverpool are the ones who will blink. If they don’t bid great, makes Isak rejoining easier as he’ll feel like a mug.
  7. Despite all the talk of Osula being unpredictable, his movements and touches are so telegraphed. Can see exactly what’s he’s going to do 5 seconds prior.
  8. These ITKs are just playing percentages here, they know Liverpool will bid and that it might be accepted, and so guess that it’s happened to appear like they broke the story. In reality they’re just taking a punt as everyone forgets what they get wrong.
  9. The jeopardy is already over, the new striker is in. There will be two strikers this season, one might be Isak, might not be. Relax, now the club are in the driving seat.
  10. Get the new guy in and then switch the transfer fax machine off until January. Keep him and it’s one of the strongest forward lines and strongest midfields in the division, with a solid defence. Sell him and the replacement will not be as good and it strengthens a rival. He goes in June for the same money. Yes Isak is going to cry about it, but he’s got 3 years left on his contract so he’ll have to get over it. Like others, I am baffled by some of the calls on here.
  11. They’ve been trying to get a top striker in since the window opened. Isak is better than Wissa so my preference is for him to stay until June. With another top striker on the books Isak will have to apply himself or simply not play. He can go next summer for the same fee spoken about now, he won’t lose value. If more clubs are interested it could even drive a bidding war. Also Brentford are fully entitled to require Wissa to stay, it’s not a done deal. Why should Newcastle ludicrously overpay Brentford just so Liverpool can get what they want?
  12. Yes and remember this when reading all this dominoes stuff, that’s not from NUFC
  13. Baldwards has called this whole saga correctly tbh. And signing a top striker puts the club back in the driving seat, Eddie can decide what he wants, Isak or someone else. It’s not up to Liverpool. Same way where Wissa plays this season is ultimately Brentford’s decision.
  14. The money will be available in June as well, especially if the bid is only £120m odd. No rush to sell and Isak is better than Wissa.
  15. If this other chap signs then it has to be a fee so high it’s painful, north of £150m upfront, plus the rest. Like the coutinho fee where it’s clear it’ll never be worth it. But personally I’m in the make him crawl back camp. Looking forward to the 2nd September humbling
  16. Whilst chopping and changing has a negative impact, you don’t want to suddenly stick when you have a knacker. I’m glad Newcastle didn’t stick on Souness, Allardyce, McLaren, Bruce etc The comparisons with Howe helpful. Amorim took over a cup winning side playing in Europe and turned them into a team finishing 17th, Howe has done the exact opposite - for the same squad investment! Where can Amorim take them next, I’m excited to find out
  17. Liverpool aren’t going to place a bid. Their and Isaks aim is to force the club to call them and offer a price, which Liverpool will then bid under. Has been for a month, it’s what they mean when they say they are waiting for the club to be willing to sell. Isaks job is to make himself so toxic that the club go ahead and do that. The club just need to hold their nerve until 2nd September and then Isaks leverage is gone.
  18. Agree this is the best approach, could do it just to January to see if it generates either remorse from the player or a bid from a foreign CL team who bring forward summer plans due to injuries etc
  19. The PFA’s job is to represent players, it’s not going to come out and have a dig at a member.
  20. Seems there’s no point talking to him until 2 September, at which point he will have dug himself a very deep hole and it will be up to Eddie to decide if he’s helped out of it.
  21. If he wants Man Utd money he can go there and finish 17th or whatever. Man Utd are a crazy comparison as they overpay everyone
  22. Absolutely nothing. Like anyone with inside information on anything ever would share it with Merson. Probably heard it from the bloke in the kebab van
