If it leaves Europe once it’ll never return, it’ll end up in the Middle East

My guess is the police want to avoid Tottenham fans and Arsenal fans meeting on the Victoria and Piccadilly lines, and Fulham and Chelsea fans meeting in Fulham in large numbers, so want an early 12pm KO for Arsenal and that’s what is holding those games up Sky will want the final starting 4pm latest so it doesn’t run into their 7pm KO

Yeah but this isnt the choice. Wilson can’t be Isaks main backup, but he can be a useful squad player. Personally I don’t think Osula can be the backup either. I think it needs a new signing. Maybe the club think after this season Osula will be ready, for me that’s stretching. But once it’s accepted it can’t be Wilson then a new deal for him can be judged on what he can contribute vs what he can’t

Wilson will have no amortisation costs, and they will presumably negotiate on salary. He will cost very little and have limited PSR impact. I’d have no issue with him staying. If there’s European football, especially if it’s EL there is a need for a genuine understudy to Isak, that can’t be Wilson or Osula judging on this season. So that’s a new face IMO, but tying that to Wilson leaving is a mistake. Osula would probably get a Chsmpionship loan for half a season in that circumstance, which might do him a world of good.

Really need to see Man City out before Rhodri returns… The dream draw is Man City to plan Villa away, and then to play the winner of that at home in the quarters, and for Man Utd to have to travel to Brighton Fulham and Bournemouth are good sides and will fancy it too, I’d really enjoy meeting sides like that in the latter stages

Am glad there was so much rotation given th players got kicked for over 100 minutes The ref has to do better. It’s negligent not to do anything about the body check on Krafth and the tackle on Osula

He got 9 PL goals last season even whilst being injured for most of it. If he does something similar this season he’ll be a big asset.

98 was Arsenal in their first double year, 99 was Man Utd on the treble I’d rather have the team that isn’t still going for a historic achievement!
-
One game to go! Played and beat the teams in second, third and fourth in the league so far and probably the team in first to come next - quite a crazy set of teams to have to beat in a cup competition. Have to win it the hard way….

Anyone who suggested Trippier should be sold should hand their heads in shame. A good defensive performance so far, a leader on the pitch and a truly magnificent wind up merchant

Those 4 were a year later, the damage was done. Honestly I think it’s crazy to defend Dalglish. He took a fast attacking team and converted it in a year to a plodding slow side, a team that finished second to one that finished bottom half. Even if second place wasn’t sustainable (Arsenal were on their way) it is a dreadful record.

Dalglish sold Ginola and bought Des Hamilton, he utterly wrecked the club. He absolutely stuffed the squad with average players that took years to repair. I agree it was funny to see him try and do it again to Liverpool, straight in for Charlie Adam etc. Shame they stopped him before he’s done the whole squad

There are posters on here with a lot more understanding of PSR and the clubs financials than the Ronnie gill, I wouldn’t believe a word of what they say. Plus things like league position and European qualification will have a huge impact on the financials
-
What a lovely result. They were just starting to get some ‘turning the corner’ coverage after scraping a couple of results, this should put a lid on that
-
On the sales they all look fine in isolation, but the squad is really thin. I didn’t go into January thinking this is a squad that can lose 3 players without impact - it’s not like Chelsea where they have 6 teams worth. Theres barely any cover and absolutely no scope for rotation. It impacts on the pitch.

In the medium term they have big stadium debts to pay off, they paid 45m in interest last year, plus whatever capital repayments they had. They have ran up real world losses the last few years so I guess they don’t have the cash (in PSR land they are ok as it’s all excluded from the calcs, but not sure they have real money to buy players). Arsenal went through a similar phase post Emirates. Once that debt is down they’ll be very strong financially

JFK was terrible, but it’s more on Ashley as there was never any doubt he’d be rotten. I would say he met every fans expectations. Dalglish did the most damage IMO. had Dalglish not wrecked the squad and instead ridden the wave of European competition expansion life could have been so different! Instead Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool did. He wasn’t as bad a manager as some of the others, but he had the best hand when he took over. You can make the same argument against Souness, but I think the cash had already dried up when he came in, Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea were too far ahead financially already (Chelsea as Abramovich came in in 2003)
