I said quite a while ago that top 4 was the new target. I fully stand by that. 5th would be disappointing, 7th a disaster.

Having a 6 with the vision of an 8 is a lovely thing to have. What a player.

If you could cross Wood's robustness with Isak's talent and Wilson's knowhow, you'd have the next Shearer. Maybe.

Booed off after 28 minutes against a 3rd tier club in the cup. Hard to see where he goes from here, unless he's wiling to drop down to League 1/2.

James Maddison (now playing for Tottenham Hotspur)

I've never really been that bothered about Maddison, but if it means no more Murphy, then bring him in. -
League Cup Quarter Final Draw - Newcastle vs Leicester

We're 3rd in the league and have only lost to Liverpool with one of the most bent refereeing displays you'll ever see. We can beat anyone and should fear no one. We are no longer Ashley's team.- 308 replies

This is an incredibly sensible post. This please. -
It's like he discovered being intellectually edgy as a full grown man, rather than as a student. Quoting Nietzsche on Twitter without understanding the context doesn't make you look intellectual - it makes you look like a fraud.

He's a fucking idiot, that's for sure. As a slow developer who's taken a long time to grow into a PL level striker, to lose it all now that he's made it, over betting is ridiculous. He's probably not finished, but at 26 he can hardly afford a few months off. It'll certainly make it hard for him to upgrade on Brentford. He's kinda put a Troy Deeney level ceiling on himself when he potentially could have had the top 7 sniffing around him. What a waste.

Two match winning saves right there, after his pen heroics in the last round. When we win the whole thing, I hope he gets first dibs on showing the trophy to the fans.

Newcastle United 1-0 Bournemouth (20/12/2022)
JumpersForGoalposts replied to Disco's topic in Football
i'll take a win any day, and the bonus is that we've got our scrappy post WC comeback out of the way before we resume our epic PL streak. -
This is one of those games where you have to choose between punching yourself in the face or in the balls. I would dearly love both teams to lose. However, if someone put a gun to my head, I'd have to admit that I couldn't take the Argie bastards winning, so I suppose it's Vive La Dirty French Bastards for me.

This a million times over. It's anything but luck. Taking a set piece is the time when a player has the single most control over what they are doing, as no one is trying to tackle them or close them down. Same with keepers. Krul showed that you very much can train for saving pens. I think this is why I was so furious at Southgate for the Euros final, when it was obvious that England had neither practiced pens nor had a strategy or order. Southgate had simply left it to 'pot luck'. That must change this time round. -

Someone please bottle Neymar's tears and feed them directly into my veins. -
Diabolical pens and goalkeeping. As others have said, WTF are they doing in training?! Especially the keeper. Absolute hologram. I hope England watched that and decide to actually practice pels, to avoid another shitshow like the Euros final.

Irrespective of the easiness of the opposition he faced or the accuracy of his record, he is irrefutably a legend of the game. I hope his final days are painless and full of dignity.
