  1. Just noticed Wilson's second use of his body on Longstaff's goal. Little hussle put Guehi off a little and then he slightly blocked off the centre-half. May have made no difference but it bought Longstaff fractionally more time and space which might have helped with composure. Seen Tonali do something similar for Bruno to cross for Burn's goal against PSG. Apart from anything else, such as no run really being in vein knowing the defenders can pick-out and however its played a touch from anyone else can play you in, were such a bright team.

    Anthony Gordon

God he makes things happen. In games where we might be bogged down, like the games against Palace last year as it happens, Bruno off his game or whatever, think Gordon still threatens, runs at people, pulls them out of position and propells our lads into the space and yes, the odd free-kick won.

I can see the headlines in the Echoah now "(h)And baaally for me like"

    Jamaal Lascelles

Been massive really. Felt nervous as heck about getting an injury or suspension to that unit at the back but along with the boy Tino, feel a lot better now.
  5. Can't forget either that players that were being run ragged by Southend and Tranmere under Ossie held their own at the top of the PL under Keegan - Pav, Elliott, Watson, Clark, Howey. The latter of whom was converted from a generic middling centre-forward even by the then standards into an England international level centre-half. There's been the odd player that certain managers turned around but only KK and Eddie to this extent.
  6. Anything that keeps the hope of a complete and utter financial meltdown at Chelsea alive is satisfying.
  7. The clean sheets are back. Six in eight. And that reliability factor as a platform is entirely returned. Whilst alternating players. Some coaching we've got now.

Cattermole and Ball competing to be the captain of their greatest ever team and were debating whether they're a big club?
  9. Italy win the world cup directly after scandals. Every cloud. Worth a punt ironically.
  10. I was fully expecting a PSG 2nd and a a brutal last few minutes at 3-1. Were in the exact same position in the group now too. With the seemingly weakest team ahead PSV/Dortmund. Cue two Dalglishianly pointlessly negative performances against them.
  11. If his ownership of us is anything to go by, the man knows how to do stationary.

Just a bad run of form is enough to get you gossed on and challenged in front of the wife by those toxic bileful chavs. Ah! that's the first time I've seen that context to know where they get the idea from. Its obviously always implied by them to have been when he was our manager rather than when a lot of England fans and the Southern media hated him.

    Kevin Keegan

All he's done wrong is say something like that in a time when you're bound to get jumped on as being some sort of deviant for thinking it. Its no different, to me, to how a lot of people thought Jonathan Pearce was a cringe inducing arsehole for going 'goooooooooooooooooal' and hamming up the the commentary when he first broke through (C5). It didn't transfer from local radio. Especially as commentary in general is pretty much at its nadir these days. They're almost all bad to me, almost no persoal opinion, critiques, anecdotes, quotes yet much more talking. Does't mean I'm all kinds of prejudices. Guy Mowbray used to work for Sun FM, for all I know is a mackem but he's one of the few I exempt. I cant get away with Robyn Cowan. But I can't Ian Crocker, Darren Fletcher or Steve Wilson either.
  14. A double negative wasn't it? Fitting since that's the scouse attitude generally.

They were the real winners again though. Bested us in wits again whilst the Champions League is "the forgotten man" of competitions anyway, so the jokes on us.
  17. Was trawling the comments on l'equipe last night and saw "Bizarre, ils n'ont pas chante leur chant traditionnel a la fin du match" / Weird, they didnt sing their traditional song at the end of the match. Don't know what they mean re the song but I do know what the mean re the DJ
  18. Should have got the one with Ginola on the cover a few month later. Was a cracking piece in there about us greeting each other the day after the Boro game (of Ginola fame) not with t just "Gin-ola", paraphrasing but something along the lines of 'if you'd just arrived you'd be sure Gin-ola was Geordie for hello'
  19. Tonali using his body to block of a PSG defender giving Bruno that extra little bit of space and time to cross for Burn well depicted in that footage is the sort of brightness and awareness that perpetuates the squad now. Its a nothing thing really but that one percent improvement in Bruno's situation could make all the difference.
  20. Grew up with a bunch and we never caused any problems, didn't hang around the street corners and stuff, quiet-ish really - soft as a group to be honest ,myself included, or at least non-confrontational but heard a few years later, ever more years after actual hooliganism was passe, they were running amock in Breda and thought it was sad as fuck on so many levels. (*and all glory hunters to a man) Not hard to believe its much the same now. Not that if they were hard I'd approve either but at least its not disingenuous or that type but that sort is as good as gone now.
  21. They develop a bitter hatred with a spitefulness only they can bring towards anybody who threatens them where previously there was next to no rivallry but god forbid Chelsea, Man City or ourselves ruffle their feathers and make it that bit harder for them to have everything their own way and its foaming bile and smashed coach windows.

    Fabian Schär

I've wondered about "You Sure/Schar do" before now. That the group was called Strike make it worth another shout. Plus it'd be a gargantuan improvement on Status Quo for no reason other than musicmans lack of creativity.

Definitely nothing wrong with your memory, at least in my experience. I always liked the look just a shame it was associated with Watford, Hull, Oxford and Wolves away to little success and almost always poor games (even under KK). Only Cambridge bucked the trend in those days.

Schar's but was great. His goal was good too.
  25. Got to be up early in the morning to chase the players at their training ground too.
