  1. Listening to the podcast though... sweet Jebus that Schadenfreude hits the spot.
  2. We're Newcastle fans. For the last 55 years or so Schadenfreude is all we've had.
  3. I'd obviously rather we were playing in the Champions League, but if we were in the Europa League I'd fucking love to win it personally. Also I think the whole 'every team other than Real and Barcelona that isn't in the Premier League (and most of the teams that are in the Premier League) are a bit shit' thing is a tad overblown.
  4. Either way, we really don't want this season to end as a damp squid.
  5. A game where you'd expect us to be attacking a lot and putting a lot of balls into the box I think would suit him well. He's probably the best we have at being in the right place to poke in those scappy goals. Only saw the first half vs Arsenal but I though he looked fine. Made some intelligent runs, got in dangerous positions. I could only see the first half so I imagine he tired after half time. Anyway, bet he gets the goal that secures us Champions League and then you can all suck on his immaculately shaven balls before he rides off on an ambulance into the sunset.
  6. Congrats @leffe186 How does this season feel now by the way? Is football really trophies over everything, or is just a good league year where you win most of the time ultimately more satisfying for the most part?
  7. Do wonder if Delap is gonna be the next big thing or if he's just Kevin Davis Mk II. Cunha seems a good signing for Man U. Mbeumo would be too.
  8. Feel Everton could be a bit like us in 21/22. Years of anger and frustration, then a mid season change, increased form and a new positive optimistic mindset around the club. We had nothing to play for final game of that season, Arsenal had Champions League on the line and we battered them. Of course we were at home but still, pressure's all on us while they can just party like it's 1987. We're still good favourites to do it, but I think it could be a much tougher game than expected, especially if we don't score early.
  9. Feel this Joan Savewell fella might just be an agent link to drum up some interest but exciting to be getting some rumours again.
  10. Does Aniston work for transfer rumours?
  11. Feels like stage 1 of 'The Project (tm)' is complete. We spent as much as we could and took the side from perennial relegation scrappers to a trophy-winning team that challenges for European & Champions League qualification every year. We've had to tighten our belts for a year because of that initial splurge but feels like we're ready to try and make the next push to try and become a side that wins trophies and gets Champions League every year. And now we're pushing from a position of strength. Don't think we'll go completely ham, and it might depend on CL qualification, but a couple of top quality players and several sensible, solid squad signings, plus a talented youngster or two would be cracking. Just hope we stay on the right side of PSR because once you're ahead of it, it actually provides opportunities. EDIT: Now watch as we just bring in DCL on a free this summer.
  12. I'd prefer hencher seahorses. Those ones look like they skip tail day.
  13. Yeah I think you might be right, I actually tried to invert the colours on the bottom but my very rudimentary paint skillz weren't up to the job & I gave up after about a minute.
  14. Got rid of the horible blue. The flag on the Newcastle city crest is a red and while cross so really don't need it.
  15. I'd say Slot's favourite given them running away with the league in his first season in charge. Who else has exceeded their club's expectations the most? Gotta be Nuno. Forest were probably hoping to avoid a relegation scrap and they're still challenging for top 5. That said, last 2 games - if we win both and finish second & Forest lose both & finish 7th you could make a good case for Howe over Nuno. If we lose both and Forest win both and come above us it would seem mad to pick Howe over Nuno.
  16. Absolutely, to represent football pitches.
  17. Can we at least get rid of the horrible, garish shade of blue on it.
  18. Think that Juve one looks class personally. Mind you I always seem to like their kits and everyone else seems to hate them so I'm probably not the best judge.
  19. I'd give it to Postecoglu. Can't think of many managers who would have got Spurs to 17th. Impresive achievement.
  20. What's the latin for 'get into them'? Can we have that on the new badge?
  21. Got massive Liverpool 2023 vibes here
  22. I think the 80s NUFC badge would look the best on casualwear too. Our current badge is way too formal to look good on a hoodie.
  23. Man U will win the EL. We'll finish 6. You'll get emphysema from all the cigars you'll smoke. Nailed on.

    Dogawful Officiating

Instinctively I hate Wenger's idea. This could be due to a natural 'I don't like change' to be fair. But my worries are as follows: 1. It probably won't do anything to make offside more/less contentious. It'll still be decided by comparing the exact positions of two people at the precise moment another person kicks the ball in a completely different position. This whole 'clear daylight' bullshit seems a red herring. Officials will still just try and get it right as best they can. They'll never be perfect because that's impossible. 2. Stronger teams willl generally be attacking more than weaker teams. Favouring attackers more will favour stonger teams more and so presumably make football more predictable [tbf. it's possible it'll help weaker teams who just want to whack it over the top, given pojnt 3.] Football is the most popular sport in the world, and also the one the bookies find hardest to predict because it's so low scoring, which makes it more unpredictable on an individual game basis. 3. Thinking about how the game could practically play out. An attacker can stand in an offside position behind a defender and then just briefly move their foot level at the point a pass is made and be onside. That's not fucking football. Defenders will have to be aware of what's going on in front of them to see the pass, know what's going on beside them to know the offside line and know what's going on behind them, all at the same time. That seems unbalanced. Like a good cricket pitch has a fair balance of bat and ball, a good football game should have a good balance of attack and defence. 4. Making it easier for attackers to get in behind defenders could result in even more low blockage, or a full on reliance of athleticism uber alles. 5. Ultimately I don't see what problem this solves. Offside is still decided by an infinitely small distance at a particular moment of time. Just saying it'll result in more scoring does not mean the game will be better. If we just wanted tons of scoring we'd all watch basketball or cricket. It's perfectly possible I'm wrong about all this. Offside's been changed a number of times in the past [Bill McCracken represent!], and I don't mind it being tested. But the whole, 'it'll result in more goals therefore good' I would strongly dispute, and I don't actually think the current rule is a problem personally.
