  1. Absolutely, anyone saying 'oh it was just the League Cup' can fuck right off. Put aside getting rid of our Wembley hoodoo, look who wins the League Cup. It's almost always a really top team. It's fucking hard to win it, there are no easy byes against amateurs. And we had to knock out 5 Premier League teams to win this, the worst of which was a solid Brentford team in 11th [at time of the final]. We knocked out the actual top four league teams to win this. We beat a top Arsenal side home and away in the semis, then clearly outplayed the runaway league leaders at Wembley to win this. This was objectively an incredible cup win. Our unique historic baggage just adds that extra layer of momentusness.
  2. One thing we learnt yesterday: turns out the 'old back post to Williamson' move was legit.
  3. I've woken up both hungover and still drunk and I regret nothing.
  4. Eddie Fucking Howe. So pleased for him, he's just a class act.
  5. The week Dan Burn's having you feel like he's probably already bought a winning Euromillions ticket, and tonight he & his wife will probably conceive the second coming of Christ.

  7. Really solid performance so far. We're certainly not blowing them away but we deserve the lead. They're obviously going to have some chances second half, but a Wembley goal, fuck me. Was thinking earlier, all we need is one really good kick from a set piece and then one really good header. And it happened.
  8. I'm going to move the sofa a couple of feet from the wall, huddle behind it poking my head out every few minutes until the end of the game, then spend the rest of the day drinking or masturbating to oblivion, depending on the outcome.
  9. Dunno how Dubs managed to give them the ball in the first place. No need to lose posession there.
  10. I feel like our shooting practice in training is us just trying to shoot at our own feet.
  11. Should be pointed out, where a player commits a foul to stop a promising attack but advantage is played (i.e. the attack isn't stopped) then the player isn't cautioned: "Advantage If the referee plays the advantage for an offence for which a caution/sending-off would have been issued had play been stopped, this caution/sending-off must be issued when the ball is next out of play. However, if the offence was denying the opposing team an obvious goal-scoring opportunity, the player is cautioned for unsporting behaviour; if the offence was interfering with or stopping a promising attack, the player is not cautioned."
  12. Pretty boring game tbh. The defensive gameplan is fine and for the most part they didn't seem threatening, but then neither did we. Main issue is we're just so bad at posession football that if there isn't a quick counter on we're completely toothless. It's exactly the same system that's struggled with this for years: one DM comes deep to get the ball, everyone else spread so far apart every pass is risky and there's no-one close to win any second ball. Basically we set up to counter attack when we're trying to pass out and it doesn't work, and has never really worked for posession ball. We need some variety in our offensive game plan. Not just today but in general.
  13. Soup is massively underrated.
  14. We're going to make the Premier League pay for Odysseas!
  15. Every time we've played them in round 5 we've won though. Can't argue with facts.
  16. If it's £1,000 per week then definitely sign him up. If it's £100,000pw then no thanks. Somewhere between those extremes there'll be a point where it ceases to be worth it. Just depends on how much really. If next season we're going into things with 1. elite first chose (Isak), 2. talented young gun (Osula), 3. wise old head (Wilson) as our striking options that's decent. Puts off having to buy another striker for another year so we can invest in other areas.
  17. Fun game, definitely feels like there'll be more goals and feels very upsetty! They've been very good, we're a bit disjointed with a lot of changes and people who haven't been playing. Osula's looked very lively, Willock's done a couple of nice things. Main issue is our ongoing inability to pass out from the back. Quite annoying that League 1 teams are better at it than us!
  18. We better turn up today. After such a massive game on Wednesday this sort of fixture than can unconsciously seem a bit underwhelming whereas they'll be bang up for it. Need to get back to perfmorming well.
  19. Gotta hope that Sela Cup final experience has steeled us for the big occasion.
  20. Might as well chuck Targett in as well just to be extra secure.
  21. Yeah cost of the transfer would be spread over 5 years for accounting purposes assuming a 5 year contract. PSR didn't invent this: it's been standard football accounting practice for a long time when calculating profit and loss as far as I know (think there are some accountants on who will have a better grasp of the history). The PSR stuff just kind of makes the profit and loss incurred (particularly loss) far less flexible.
  22. Plus another solid PL team in Brentford too. I know the EFL cup isn't as pretigious as the FA Cup, but if we beat the top 4 teams in the league to win it, including the side in 2nd over two legs in the semis, and top of the league in the final, that's a hell of a cup win. They're still strong favourites IMO mind, but we have competed with them in most recent matches.
  23. Can't see Wilson starting this one as he's only just back from injury. I'm guessing he might be given 30 mins to start building his resiliance up.
