  1. Joe Kinnear. 'Yohan Kebab' and 'Charles Insomnia' is legendary stuff.
  2. Looks to me like Frimpong treads on his foot, which is what causes his [Frimpong's] ankle to turn. Also contact doesn't equal foul, football's not a no contact game.

    Nick Pope

Yeah, I thought Botman couldn't get the pace on the header and Pope basically bailed him out, though I haven't seen it again in any highlights so might be misremembering tbf
  4. The moment he went down he was waving for physio. I really hope this isn't the last we see of Fabi. Such a class player.
  5. I agree, certainly not been in his best form, though he's a had a couple of very good games recently, but I'd still have him as my first choice winger in our squad. In general we haven't played that well this year as a team & people seem to particularly like to hate on him for it. Also with him vs Barnes, I like Barnes a lot but I find him (like Murphy though in a different way) to be a bit more of a final third specialist and is particularly well-suited to that role of coming on and tearing into tiring teams in the last 30 mins. Either way, if they're both playing don't know why they can't just swap sides a bit more during games just to see if they happen to match up well on the other side.
  6. I agree. I'm sure there's lots of work in terms of getting players to move and block runners etc. But ultimately, it seems to come down to: crowd the 6 yard box to make it hard for defenders to get a clear run at the ball. Then just keep whipping it across the 6 yard box with plenty of pace and bend and something'll happen sooner rather than later.
  7. Moyes must wish he'd had a better agent.
  8. Just hope he's been bigging up Newcastle to Jarrod Bowen.
  9. Wonder if they'll go for someone like Glasner and continue the 3 at the back revolution, which will obviously annoy Scholes, or maybe go for somoene like Iraola, depending on how Bournemouth's season plays out.
  10. Celtic must have plenty of expensive, talented players relative to their division. Perhaps they just need to keep things simple. Get Roy Keane in to shout 'just do your fucking job!' at them and they'll probably be fine.

    Dogawful Officiating

His pose looks slightly different in the two pics to me: both legs and arms are a bit straighter in the picture compared to the photo. My guess is the photo doesn't capture the exact moment they're judging, it's probably a few fractions of a second out. Either that or their computer modelling is buggered.
  12. That's like saying you'll take Chris Sutton's predictions over a gambling company's because he's a real human in the real world instead of a computer algorithm. Time to embrace technology, football 2.0 is here, and in it we're in 5th and Sunderland are 17th. Happy days.
  13. Heard he was insisting on bringing in some coffee ladies which is why they got rid.
  14. Yeah crazy. Obviously take exact numbers/points with a large pinch of maldon salt, but that big a swing likely indicates a reasonable level of jamminess this year.
  15. This is why I only follow the xG table and not the stupid flawed-by-randomness points per result one. It's not just to annoy @bobbydazzla https://www.fotmob.com/leagues/47/table/premier-league?filter=xg Fuck me look at Sunderland! Edit: Villa down in 15th too!

  17. Seemed inevitable after his comments yesterday, like he was having his final say. I actually quite like Amorim, where do we reckon he goes now? France, Germany? Back to Portugal? Is there someone impressively average Man U could hire in his place?

    Joelinton

Looks fit as well, hopefully Eddie rotates him a bit to keep him fresh as his physicality is such an important part of his game. When he plays well he does the dirty work that allows others to shine.
  19. So good he's getting the minutes now. You could see from his first appearences he had the physicals, technique and temperament. Now he's getting the match experience the mental/decision making side of the game will hopefully come on now.
  20. Just need Frank and Eddie to agree to a job share and we'll be unstoppable! Or completely stoppable! One of the two.
  21. To be fair a lot of that was people's reactions to us signing someone... anyone for the first time in 2 years.
  22. Someone please tell him to grow that hair, I'm sure someone on here has posted they know his family. Absolutely no way he won't become world class with those locks. Perhaps like McTominay he needs a year in Serie A to style up.
  23. Sorry lads, this one's on me: didn't realise we were playing again so soon so missed the first half. Thought they were better overall second half though we also had a few opportunities. We immediately gave them momentum 2nd half with some sloppy basic errors: terrible pass from Thiaw to Ramsdale putting him in the corner. Tonali giving it away poorly (I think in the turnover that lead to the [possibly slightly soft?] free kick they scored from). Great free kick mind. Thought it was one of those games where we needed to slow it down at 2-1 & get some control but as per we just let it get quite frantic, which I think suited them a bit coming from behind (though it does also suit the way we play tbf). Our general struggle passing out under pressure didn't help either & thought they were dangerous on the turnover so maybe going to a 2-1 in CM with Sandro and Ramsay as the shield and Bruno further up might have been an option to ensure we had recovery pace deep. Their second goal was just awful and out of nothing, though they had been on the front foot to be fair. Thought the charge on Gordon at 2-1 was a stonewall penalty. You can fairly charge a player if you're within playing distance of the ball but didn't think it was either a fair charge or within playing distance of the ball, no attempt to play the ball and a foul that probably gets given in a heartbeat anywhere else on the pitch, so that was unfortunate. Thought last 15 or so we looked more likely to score the winner, though they still had some opportunities tbf. Didn't see the first half but looks like we played very well and Big Nick back on the scoresheet so that's good. Perhaps over the 90 mins deserved a tight win but wasn't to be.
