What you do if you were Liverpools yankee doodles?

Sack Rafa = £20m plus up to £10m to recruit a replacement

Keep Rafa and risk missing out on Champions League = £20m at least in lost revenue

Surely the only thing they can't afford to do is to sack him at the end of the season if they don't qualify?

I suppose the problem with sacking him now is whether a replacement will do much better?

The team itself is the problem, not enough quality, maybe no manager could do a lot better. If they appoint somebody else and don't qualify, they are doubley done..

It's his team though, and if you're saying that's the problem then that goes back to Benitez.

Be interesting to see what kind of meltdown happens if they don't qualify for the Champions League this year.

Gerrard -> Chelsea

Torres -> Citeh

Chelsea don't really need another midfielder like Gerrard.

Both to Citeh i reckon or out of the Country.

You reckon that would be enough to stave off Financial meltdown too? They've already had to rejuggle their loans several times since taking over, their new stadium keeps getting put on hold too. If they can't get into the Champions League regularly they'll be in a lot of trouble!

Interestingly enough, this is the 1st season Rafa has had direct control over all aspects of the club too, firing several staff members in the Summer and bringing in his own guys.

Ballack will go soon I reckon. Citeh will buy Torres so no-one else can.

"Without wanting to sound melodramatic, this club is rotten to the core - from the moneygrabbing, lying, unwanted owners, right through the coaching and management staff whose frailties and limitations have been shown up time and time again this season, down to the players who apparently don't want to be here. To be outfought and outplayed by a group of players who aren't even getting paid at the moment is not only shambolic, but a genuine embarassment."

Could easily be us... but it's the self-pitying, deluded bin-dippers..

This is a good analysis from there:

Rafa's idea of a flair player is a fullback. This won't even help us put constant pressure against a bellow average confident Pompey side who haven't got even paid. In this kind of games players like Dossena, Kuyt, Lucas will destroy any balance we have in the side. We simply won't be able to have any flow whatsoever in our game. It was so obvious that it made me cry. We were so so predictable that Torres and Gerrard looked out of sorts all game long. They simply were not able to receive no quality balls throughout the game. The sad thing is that Rafa's willing to risk players when they are obviously not fully fit like Gerrard and Torres during periods this season but he's not willing to go out all guns blazing against the weakest team in Premier League. Even if Aquilani is injured you can always put Gerrard next to Mascherano and put Benny behind Torres. Even Ryan Fuckin.g Babel instead of Kuyt or Dossena would had made us tons of times more dangerous than we looked. The sad thing is that during the last three seasons we've seen numerous times when Rafa was too defensive against weak teams, but chose not to look up to it :(
