Bossman
Solid start, actually looked like a team. Not pulling up stumps but I'd like to think that they're making progress
Ikon
We've had some decent players before as well, but we've always been missing the last few quality pieces of the pussel. Much much better football than under Pardew Some bad subs though. Really do hope that we add to the players we've signed so far. Not getting my hopes up.. r0cafella
We look competent which is a massive improvement on anything we've had in a long time.

Big Geordie
Says (on 5Live) a draw was fair enough in the end - plenty of positives. Says Mitrovic was silly for the tackle for after just coming on. We need to 'be a bit smarter' in the last 20mins of games.

Couldn't say that much last season. We did somewhat, thought we faded badly and Southampton were the better side after gini scored personally. We could really kick on this season if we were to invest properly and buy 3 or 4 more players to improve the first team too bad it won't happen. Ikon
We really need to strengthen some areas. If we don't do that it's gonna be a long frustrating season again (relatively speaking)
Shak
Thought bringing De Jong on was very stupid. We were clearly gassed and needed some energy, SDJ was never gonna give us that. Aarons on with Sissoko moving central would have made sense. All in all he gets a plus grade from me today though, we played some good stuff.
sempuki
Thinking a CB and LB should be prioritised followed by a winger. Top 8 would be realistic if we got in players of a similar calibre as Wijnaldum et al.

Top 8 would be realistic if we got in players of a similar calibre as Wijnaldum et al. Think they've got dummett ear marked for first choice left back. Would love us to sign another centre half and a proper holding player. A left back as well but just can't see it.
Terrymac1966
Dummett is no way a class left back we need a new Enrique who has strength and pace ... in fact left back is the weakest link in that defence crosses were poring in from that side today Haidara flatters with his attacking runs but he is no defender ... will get murdered as will Dummett by flying tricky forwards

Aarons on with Sissoko moving central would have made sense. Aye, the game was crying out for a bit of pace to run out the Southampton defence. Thought his other subs were fine but was disappointed to see SDJ come on.
SiLvOR
Little bit miffed at his selection of Obertan, but apart from that he's had a reasonably decent first game. Defence needs sorting badly, but that's up to the wankers in charge to get some deals done.
Gallowgate Toon
Haidara needs a run of games. He could quite feasibly have been rusty and wasn't helped by Obertan on quite a few occasions, to be fair to him. I've seen the lad have some good games for us but we're going to have to give him a proper chance.
Dr Colossus
I'm going to rapidly get tired of the camera showing him walking down stairs, as quickly as I did with the repeated shots of Pardew drinking from a bottle of water.
toptoon
Not anti Obertan as he turned a corner last year but why the on fire Aaron's not only didn't start but didn't even get on as sub ? Plus we need a cb who is dominant in the air ! Colo and mbmemba as a cb pairing are going to get murdered every game in the air based on today ! Barnes23
We are relying too much to the wingers and fullbacks with our attacking. With Winegum and De Jong in the middle we should attack through middle too. Just putting crosses is not very effective. Although we have lacked a good crosser for a while I thought the same. Not that surprising considering we had two deep-lying midfielders for the entirety of the game. Plenty of reason to be encouraged, though, despite the questionable choice of subs and the selection of Obertan + Colback. Far more enjoyable to watch than anything we've seen in the past 5 years, barring the odd game. Above all else, it's nice just to be able to support the team again. steve_69
De jong, Mitrovic, Aarons and Perez on the bench. That's quite a Pardew-esque move. Let's hope it's not a sign of things to come.
