Honestly a brief spike of hope over maybe new manager new playstyle reinvigorated my interest, but as bad as it is now I genuinely struggle to care. It was worse in the season after the 5th place when all Pardew's faults that were masked by results earlier came to the fore and never went away again.

relegation season was like a massive train crash in slow motion, this season feels like the train has broken down before its left the station.

We were pathetic in the relegation season but that team would trounce this one.

Debatable but the off field stuff trounces anything else we'll probably ever see at the club.

I still had the normal amount of care during that relegation season. I was angry every week. Couldn't give a s**** at this point.

I broke several things watching the Fulham and Villa games. Couldn't believe it. Apathetic now.

That Fulham game was my last live one. Fucking hell it was bad. But at least a small part of me gave a shit back then and at least some of the players tried.  This season everyone is doing there best Michael fucking Owen impression.

I was sat in the Leazes and the jet black storm clouds coming in from over the Gallowgate and subsequent downpour summed up the mood perfectly.

Weird considering the place was bouncing 5 days earlier vs Boro...

Bassads the lot of em

This guy seems to have no authority, how could we have moved heaven and earth (i.e. continue to ask him) to sign him? I'm not sure how he's even been in management this long without a shade of command about him, the opposite of the leader of men. Basically, the absolute worst appointment for us at the time.

Does anyone think he's gone if we get tanked on Sunday ? Usually there are rumours flying about when a manager is totally failing at his job and every comment he says is a negative one, but he just seems to plod on.

All the people at the club that are ment to have authority ( captain, manager, MD) are just little quite mice with no balls to stand up to people with the number one task of saying or doing nowt to upset Ashley

if it goes as badly as we all expect it to at the weekend and he doesn't walk - ahead of another bloodbath coming at spurs - then he's clearly just riding the gravy train for his payoff like the rest of them

he can talk about patience and time all he wants, at some point it's just bullshit, he's been here since june and we're literally worse than we've ever been

Judge me after 10 an unspecified number of games humpings.

Think the difference with SMC is if it turns anywhere like it turned on Pardew he'll walk then, I'd like to think so anyway, wouldn't want to think him enough of a cunt to put up with that for money

The problem is the quality of the players in certain crucial positions. Changing the manager won't help.

The other issue is that when McClaren came in, all of the staff went and he had to start getting to know the players and their abilities from scratch. Inevitably there were errors eg he under-rated Ayoze at first and over-rated Colo and Sissoko. He didn't realise the extent of the problem, so why bring in another manager who might well suffer similar difficulties. At least McClaren shouldn't be under any delusion about what needs to be done in January.
