Im new here, but Id like to say Alex Fergurson ruined the player. Mint striker at leeds, started as a good striker at man u, then became a crap midfielder. He's on a par with shola 4 me. and thats nowt to be proud of. Viduka and Martins up front for me.

Quotes on the official website from Allardyce saying that Smith is going to continue being captain over January, in other words he'll play every game. He's impressed with his 'tenacity', why not just play a dog?

Because a dog couldn't win a pen in the last minute of a game nor could it draw in 3 opposition defenders to give Viduka space?

Only a guess like...................

Draw in 3 defenders?! He fucking fell over man! mackems.gif

The defender then tried to clear it but Viduka took it off his boot and placed it in the bottom corner, you're either clutching at straws to convince yourself he's any good or you're completely fucking clueless, judging from your comment on how you would have Butt, Milner and Smith over Laurent Robert every day of the week pushes towards the latter.

It's people like you that bum the dross like Smith, Milner, Butt, Taylor etc because they give 100% and get stuck in yet go home scratching your head as to the reason why we're so fucking shit, you just don't get it do you? These players are not good enough if we've got any sort of ambition as a club and would struggle to get in the teams that are challenging for the Uefa cup let alone the top 4.

Clueless.

You're wasting your breath riches, Baggy doesn't understand the need to have players with some charater in your team he only appears to want these softies who are permanently injured or disappear down a black hole for 9 out of 10 games.

But he hasn't seen NUFC play very often, which may explain something.

Speaking of not seeing them often, I noticed in your article in the Mag that you mentioned how we improved as a team against Blackburn, yet you were posting on your forum at the time the match was on talking to an Irish lad who was telling you what the game was like as he was watching it on the net. mackems.gif

and your point is ?

Mine is that, if you are 27 and only seen NUFC play 100 times, I had seen over 100 away games by the time I was 27, never mind home games as well.

27 year old and 100 games doesn't sound very committed to me.

BTW, I've lived outside for many years too, all over the country, and saw vastly more games than 100 in 20 years.

My opinion is with such limited experience, you can't know what you are talking about.

The first goal just about summed Smith up. Clear sight of goal and kind of forgot what to do. He scrapped about on the floor tenaciously and then a striker put it in the corner of the net.

Do you also prefer Kieron Dire, who stands on the far post and watches a corner drop into the net right next to him ?

PS. I don't think its particularly funny Dave, shades of booboo there mate

Fuck all to do with Dyer. Look up a straw man argument. Again.

If I didn't laugh I'd cry.

Good Evening Mr Negative,

You know what? I'd take Jimmy Milner over Robert EVERY day of the week.

I'd take him over Gillespie too.

Thats the thing about a football forum, it's about opinions and people being prepared to say what they think.

The difference between you and I, is that I'm positive and constructive not a negative, whinging bastard happy to slag off any of our players at every single opportunity.

Grow up you miserable little twat.

Much as I'm not liking Baggio's new gimmick, I've got to agree with him here.

Shocking comment tbh, and I was never that big of a Robert fan.

what did you think of Smith when he was at Leeds Dave

It was a question BTW, are you one of those who are saying we were better off with Dire

At Leeds Smith looked like a player with potential.

Still fuck all to do with Dyer.

OK, I accept you weren't comparing him to Dire like others. Thats all I asked  :coolsmiley:

He was very good at Leeds, there is no reason why he won't still be the same, in fact there is every reason to believe he will be the same, unless the injury has permanently damaged him.

He missed nearly a whole season with injury which is easy to forget because of his no nonsense personality. I still believe he has only started delivering for us. Let's see him upfront when possible.

I agree that he was a very good striker at Leeds but he hasn't played that role consistently for a number of years, which isn't his fault. I think if we want him to reproduce that kind of form again (assuming his injury hasn't affected his physical capabilities) then we need to give him a long run upfront, because its a very specialised position which you can "forget" how to play. Problem is, I don't think people have the patience to wait for him to find his form upfront when Viduka is being left on the bench and Martins is out on the right wing....

Smith having had an injury doesn't stop him from shooting, too often yesterday he just didn't seem to know where the goal was and went out of his way to make a pass when a shot would have been the simpler option.

Welcome yo, you have a point that he become an aweful player at old trafford. His only plus side he have riht now is his aggression. I wonder where that can take us though.
