The youngster broke his leg last month in a League One game while on loan at Brighton against Hartlepool United at Victoria Park and is not expected back until March. Pardew has spent a lot of this week holding individual meetings with his new squad members, but LuaLua needed no introduction. For the 20-year-old has already shone in front of the new Toon boss – and at his expense earlier this term against Southampton in the south coast derby against Brighton & Hove Albion. LuaLua hopes to be back in March and Pardew will assess whether he will get more chances with the Mags or be loaned back to Brighton, with Gus Poyet desperate to have him back for the third-tier promotion-chasers. Pardew told the Chronicle: “Kazenga had a terrific game that day when I was manager for Southampton and he was at Brighton on loan. “He’s impressed me.” The former Crystal Palace hero has insisted LuaLua will get his chance but knows the gulf in class between League One and the top flight. “You are jumping up two levels here,” he said. “He’s aware of that. But he has got talent.” Pardew has also hinted he will look at loaning out other youngsters when the transfer window opens in January. That means England Under-19 international Ryan Donaldson, Aussie youngster Brad Inman and even Amble lad Phil Airey may be farmed out to Football League clubs. Pardew said: “It is important for young players to go on loan. They need to go out and get a feel what it’s about. “That is much better than playing in the reserves and getting the odd game here and there.” LuaLua had surgery on his right leg two weeks ago and said: “Everything went well. “I’ve had a plate inserted and they had to fix some of the bones. “The doctor says it is a serious injury, more than 10 weeks. “That’s worse than I expected but there is nothing I can do – I’ve just got to get on with it.” chron Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

That's the important thing, a couple of signings in key areas in Jan that could free up Ranger and Vuckic to have loan spells could do them the world of good. Cronky Posted December 18, 2010 Share Posted December 18, 2010 I'm still hopeful for Kazenga, although not as hopeful as I was two years ago. I really thought he'd be in the first team picture by now, particularly seeing we're not that strong wide right. From what I've seen, he has great ability to get past his man, but like his brother, he's an individualist who hasn't the greatest football brain.
