Going up will only put us back where we would be if Ashley wasn't such a massively thick t***. And without huge changes on and off the field next season will be inevitably terrible.

 

I'll celebrate but it will be with a 'back to square one' perspective in mind. We'll have partially put right was was done wrong - that's not progress.

 

Yes, yes it is. Massive progress from where we are this season if it were to happen, and that is all that matters.

Things can change so quickly in terms of injuries, players, managers, and owners; and at present the last three are not going to be attracted to the club as we stand, so lets just hope to f*** we make it.

 

Writing us off before we even get back there as Bird is doing, is pure doom mongering at it's finest. The end is nigh my ass, the club will be in a better position for it, end of.

 

 

What he's doing (and has been all season) is trying to spitefully wind up Newcastle fans solely because we haven't done a Leeds.

No other reason.

It's disappointment we haven't imploded.

We should sort of 'Meh' when we get promoted as it would get up the rest of the country expecting us to be swinging off the lamposts and smashing bottles of brown ale everywhere in delight.

 

Yeah, best to tone down any feeling of achievement lads. It's shit to be the uncoolest kid on the block.

 

 

 

 

/we haven't been promoted. Not by the longest chalkiest chalk ever.

It's an interesting comment on our situation that I'm not actually sure whether you're serious or not.

 

That would make for a really boring promotion celebration.

Couldn't we intersperse "sack the board" with "shoes off" , "stand up for SJP" and the hilarious "FCB" ditto ?

That would be great and show the owner how we really feel.

Under 16s only though - everyone else down the pub for a celebratory skin full !

Best thing that can happen is that we're nailed on promotional certainties (or even had it wrapped up) in March. If Ashley is going to sell a Premier League side, then its best that he starts trying to do it in March, rather than in June.

 

Never going to happen though.

Best thing that can happen is that we're nailed on promotional certainties (or even had it wrapped up) in March. If Ashley is going to sell a Premier League side, then its best that he starts trying to do it in March, rather than in June.

 

Never going to happen though.

Ashley rules out January sales at Toon - Alan Oliver, The People

Mike Ashley has insisted that none of Newcastle United's bright young players will be sold in the January transfer market.

His pledge is music to the ears of Geordie fans who are watching anxiously as Premier League clubs are hovering over the likes of Steven Taylor, Andy Carroll Tim Krul and Nile Ranger.

 

 

West Ham are eyeing England Under-21 striker Carroll, David Moyes watched Taylor at the Everton manager's home town of Preston on Monday night, Manchester City top man Brian Marwood has been to St James' Park to run the rule over Ranger while in Krul Newcastle have probably the most wanted young keeper in Europe.

 

 

And Sunderland will move for Newcastle's Spanish left back Jose Enrique should their - £6m bid for Wigan's Maynor Figueroa fall through.

 

 

If Sunderland do move in for Enrique Newcastle will test Steve Bruce's resolve to hang onto Kieran Richardson.

 

 

A source close to Ashley told PEOPLE SPORT: "Mike is aware of all this but he is just not interested in selling any of the club's bright young players.

 

 

"Remember when he first took over at St James' Park he said he wanted to bring good young players through the ranks and that's what he has done with the likes of Carroll, Ranger and young Hungarian defender Tamas Kadar.

 

 

"It probably wasn't what the fans who have been brought up on big name signings wanted to hear but they are not complaining now.

 

 

"Everyone knows that we are interested in Sheffield United's young defender Matt Kilgallon and that's the kind of player we are looking to bring in during the transfer window.

 

 

"And that's why even though Sol Campbell has said he is ready to slash his wage demands to come here, Newcastle have been in no hurry to sign him."

 

 

The Ashley camp claim the owner is a lot more relaxed at the situation at St James' Park even though the fans are far from happy and still chant against him and his managing director Derek Lambias.

 

 

The source added: "Preston on a rainy Monday night might not appeal to some club owners but Mike was there. He came up to the training ground on Thursday by helicopter and he plans to make this a regular event.

 

 

"He knows that he has got the club on a sound financial footing and that's another reason why he does not need to sell any of the club's young players."

 

Yes we are complaining he fucking relegated us, who writes this fucking shit.  Seriously man.

Maybe some of the top teams could take a leaf out of our book?  Getting yourselves relegated so near enough your entire first 11 fucks off is an excellent way of getting youngsters and reserves experience in the first team.

YOU'RE top of the table, you're 3-0 up at home and you still get jeered by your own supporters.

 

It could only happen at Newcastle.

 

Yet this was another purposeful stride back towards the Premier League, achieved by three quality goals in the opening 28 minutes at St James' Park

 

Chris Hughton's men also put down those upstarts from Swansea whose challenge wilted from a first defeat in 12 matches.

 

But don't be entirely fooled by the score line. You had to be at St James' Park to understand why Newcastle were greeted by ironic cheers when they put a few passes together late in the second half.

In truth, Swansea moved the ball, had more possession, more shots and more chances.

 

On another day, they might have inflicted Newcastle's first home defeat of the season.

 

But even the most churlish member of the Toon Army would have to admit that Newcastle have the edge where it counted.

 

For all Swansea's quantity, Newcastle had the quality to decide the result well before half time.

Flattering

 

Three headers - two from Marlon Harewood either side of a strike from Peter Lovenkrands - had the crowd blinking in disbelief.

 

Not only were they splendidly created goals, they were also virtually Newcastle's only meaningful attacks of the first half.

 

Swans boss Paulo Sousa, whose side went on to dominate the second period, was entitled to insist: "We deserve much more."

 

But for Newcastle manager Hughton, it was a job well done."The first half performance was excellent," said Hughton, celebrating a fifth successive win.

 

But he kept it suitably low key and rightly focussed attention on his defenders, who had their work cut out to maintain a flattering margin.

 

Hughton added: "It's no coincidence were Swansea are in the table. They caused us problems but we defended excellently when we had to."

 

Nobody more so than goalkeeper Steve Harper who, despite a back problem that caused his substitution at the break, made spectacular saves from Cedric van der Gun and Andrea Orlandi.

 

After the interval, substitute Tim Krul was also extended and should have been beaten by Mason Dyer, among others.

But the match winning spotlight fell on Harewood, who was clearly not happy to be substituted when in sight of a hat trick.

 

Hughton understood the striker's reaction, saying: "I'd be very surprised if he was pleased to be taken off. Marlon has got stronger and fitter since he has been here."He would have liked an opportunity to get a third goal, but it's about the team."We needed to freshen things up in a period when Swansea were having more of the ball."

 

Harewood's partner, Lovenkrands, also took the eye in a rare appearance courtesy of Andy Carroll's absence through illness."I'm delighted for Peter who has had a difficult time," said Hughton."He now gives us more options up front."

 

Newcastle struck first through a corner taken on the right by Danny Guthrie. The ball was flicked deep for Fabricio Coloccini to send a well judged header looping over a static Swansea back line.

 

Harewood timed his run into the space behind him to nod gently home.

 

Jonas Gutierrez was the architect of the second, using his guile and pace on the left to cross perfectly for Lovenkrands to bury a point blank header.

 

Lovenkrands turned provider when, feeding on Kevin Nolan's racing pass, he centred for Harewood to flash home a near post header.

Chance

 

Remarkably, Newcastle were not to threaten a goal again until late in the game when substitute Nile Ranger header over with a simple chance and Alan Smith should also have scored instead of allowing Dorus De Fabries to make a desperate save.

 

Swansea kept the ball at will, though it seemed they were trying to walk it into the net.

 

The lively Nathan Dyer failed with one golden chance and Jose Enrique had to make a goal line clearance from substitute David Cotterill, who was making his debut after signing from Sheffield United.

 

Dyer was also denied in similar circumstances and Krul made a great stop from Angel Rangel.

 

It all meant the majority of a 42,000 crowd had been spoiled by the early action in which Newcastle took a grip on a difficult game.

 

But perhaps the most telling statistic by way of analysis is that Swansea, for all their intricate football, are incredibly the lowest scorers in the Championship.

 

Sousa also conceded: "We started afraid. It is not easy for some players to come to a stadium like this."

 

 

 

They do make some bollocks up like.
