madras
I think Mort is what is holing back signings, not Keegan, he has named his targets and its up to the Chairman to sort the deals out by agree fee's and contracts. Kev may get very frustrated as Mort is not goigng to be as gung ho with the cash as Freddy was.. If he is holding back then Keegan won't stick around that long. I reckon thats what happend with the Woodgate deal, the fee Mort would pay, it was th wages he would'nt pay. woodgate might not be the best example on which to judge mort...if he's half an ounce of sense he'd have insisted on something in the contract re: injuries and maybe pay as you play to a degree, or compensation, that sort of thing presumably woodgate baulked at it? the next target will be the one to judge probably.... Oh aye mate, only time will tell, but time in this window is runnign out, so maybe we won't really know until the start of next season.. f*** him and just go for Van Buyten much better tan woodgate at the moment van buyten isn't getting a regular game at bayern and is nearing 30. if money is no object there are plenty better
Skirge
Money is not the problem now time is!! mo way we can get a deal done in time for Van Buyten, this window is a no goer now unless we already have other deals in the pipeline and with some form of progress being made. mrmojorisin75
interesting that people seem to think money is no object for us now based on the drawlings of national newspapers we all hate and don't believe until we do actually start spending money i think everyone should wait it out also think there might be an allardyce influence at work here...his thing was bargains for money and he was the first voice mort ashley will have talked to about transfers probably (yeah i know about enrique and smith but those fees are nothing to 17m for darren bent are they?) it's a positive thing in my eyes, assuming once this window is done we do sufficient reasearch to be able to turn to alternate targets instead of having our eyes ripped out

Hypothetically speaking of course. If the Chairman is not doing his upmost to get the players in the Manager wants then would the Manager stick around? Quite an easy equation to make really. Skirge
SSN just said they will be talking to Keegan today about his plans for the next few days, know what they are like though probably not actually speak to him until fkn tea time..

If KK thinks for one minute the board are being arsey with him or not letting him build his team the way he wants. He will be on his bike and out the door. Well if Mort called Keegan a short-arsed cry baby who should go back to Glasgow, I don't think Keegan would stick around either. Hypothetically speaking. It'll be about installing this new belief into average players bollocks again! Think we will be much better with the african lads coming back and Viduka. Barton?? if he's going to come back and be as slow and of the pace as last time he can go fuck himself.

Also, if results go against Senegal & Nigeria, then Keegan will have a new (to him) Striker, Centre Half/Defensive Midfielder & Right Back to choose from within the next week or so. To coin an old phrase.... "They'll be like new signings"
dustynrg
Next thing we know there'll be a headline in the SUN "Mort won't give money to King KEV" All lifted from hypothetical threads!
Lenny
Dunno if its been posted elsewhere but I see we've now been linked to Giles Barnes. Not world class, but I'd take him, good, promising player and a realistic target.
wrightstuff83
I'd take Barnes but it wouldn't exactly excite me, slightly over-rated due to his nationality! Would rather see more money spent on Bentley, its easy to say he'll cost too much now, lets wait until the summer but he's apparantly in line for a new contract, so get the finger out now and get him on board! IMO we missed a gem in Lassana Diarra, quality def mid who is also a ball player! What ever happened to the Arshavin link? Was speaking to a mate who stewards at Goodison and he said Arshavin looked top drawer when Zenit played Everton early in Europe. Not only was he very skillful, but had pace, more power than you'd expect and was a brilliant leader, barking orders all over the pitch! Sounds custom made for us at the mo! Lenny
The Arshavin link seemed to disappear with Allardyce unfortunately.
madras
just a word for those too young to remember keegan first time round as manager....he gives nowt away !. the first we'll know of a signing is generally when the ink is already dry on his signature. even in woogates case the bid went in,was accepted and talks held without any outsie knowladge. we'll have to get used t the idea that just because we don't get 3 weeks worth of rumours in the rags things may well be happening. Lagerstedt
Keegan rules out move for Chimbonda Speaking of Chimbonda... Chim off to Spain Tottenham are ready to sell Pascal Chimbonda to Spanish giants Sevilla for £6m. Juande Ramos is back in again for Rangers defender Alan Hutton, and is weighing up a deadline-beating deal for Racing Santander's £15m Ezequiel Garay - also a target for Newcastle. http://football.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,,2247759,00.html?gusrc=rss&feed=5 Who if I may ask? johnnypd
Garay is very highly rated apparently, tho i've never seen him play. wish we'd start getting linked with midfielders tho...
Willow
god, no players coming in is getting me down but we mostly expected there not to be any new players after Kev arrived so far into the transfer window. Any players that do sign would be a bonus so try to set our sights low for this window and double them when the summer one comes around
