Can't be bothered to trawl through the thread, where is the link claiming he's having a medical tomorrow?

Is this Vetere flashing his credentials, then?

His credentials are all the great foreign players Charlton signed.

Aye, but Real Madrid got some canny players.

He was only with them a few months his impact there is non existent to negligible at best . He was at Charlton for years though.

Do Real Madrid typically hire no-hopers?

At this time last year we signed Onyewu on loan. I'm not convinced this is a better signing. I hope I'm wrong.

Why aren't you convinced? - Because Onyewu wasn't a decent signing last season or have you seen this player on enough occassions to be able to pass judgement?

marca.com in non-Borat speak:

Alvaro will travel to England Wednesday to undertake a medical with Newcastle, after reacheing an agreement with the Valencian club for his transfer to the British club and after being assured of the completion of the Spanish club's requirements.

Newcastle has promised to pay the transfer fee before the 31st of January. Levante had initially rejected Newcastle's offer because payment of the transfer had not been guaranteed within the required timeframe.

Although the transfer fee has not been officially confirmed, it is believed to be more than 2 million euros, which sum can be used by Levante to pay off the majority of the money it owes to its employees.

The exit of Alvaro follows that of his compatriot Savio Bortolini, frenchman Christian Riganó, lthe italians Marco Storari and Bruno Cirillo and Jose Emilio Viqueira, all of who have reached agreements with Levante to leave the club by either rescission of contract, termination of contract or transfer.

"Technical overview"

Pacy and experienced centre-back. His most outstanding quality is his ability in the air. Excellent reader of the game in cutting out balls. Excellent header of the ball, an underlying strength in the makeup of his game from set-pieces.

Whats he like: when everything is going to shit around him? carrying the back four? how does he react when his keeper panics with every backpass and blasts it at him at high pace?

To be fair he cant be too much worse, than what we have, give him a chance.

Mind, the official site isn't going to write a technical overview on one of their players to make him sound shit!

Aye, and our official site claims Alan Smith is a 'bustling goal-scoring striker who can fill a midfield role with great aplomb'.
