Mole_Toonfan
Sadly we really could do with a 'battering ram', that said from what I have seen he isn't just a clogger either. I think we will have some good options in Gouffran, Cisse, Remy and Gomis. Do I have to include the "yeah but with this manager" line? As easy as it is to blame the manager, we could really do with some width, creativity and a good big man upfront. Even if Pardew was sacked today i'm not convinced a new manager would drastically change things for the better, took me a long time to realise it but there are a lot of issues with this squad. Fatwax
Auras should shut his f***ing mouth. Sick of him. No one gives a flying f*** about French football, this is one time of the year wine soaked old dokes like this can get a bit of limelight. burn

Motivation and confidence make a massive difference though and I dont believe Pardew provides that, in fact I'd bet he saps it away with his ultra cautious negativity. IMO a decent manager could organise and motivate the players we have and we'd see the quality come through. Obviously I agree our squad would be improved a lot by a striker who can hold thr ball up and a pacey tricky winger though. We should go out and sign Gomis and Thauvin, or at least someone like Sinclair.

No reason not to keep adding more quality though so obviously I agree we should go out and sign Gomis and Thauvin, or at least someone like Sinclair. It's no longer cautious/defensive/negative/pessimistic in my mind. In my mind the bloke is just clueless. It's not as if we're suffering from drab 0-0 draws all over the shop. Teasy
He's both IMO, he's scared to try to win but can't organise us to defend well either. Also the pessemism/negativity spreads to everyone, players look scared out there.
LRD
Lyon get beat 0-2 in the CL and probably going out, the transfer "dream team" is in France... When's the 2nd leg? Can't see Aulas still being stubborn if they go out missing on the CL windfall.

Dokko
Think this should be our last summer of hammering the French market, it's exhausted. I'd still go for Gomis and possibly any already identified targets we've put in the groundwork but after that we've got to look elsewhere starting at home. I'd also like us to explore Belgium, seems a hotbed of talent ATM.
Kanj
Belgium, Italy, Holland...any country that's not France after this summer
AyeDubbleYoo
I haven't got a problem with France or French players, but I do have a problem with restricting ourselves to any one market specifically. Spanish clubs are in desperate need of cash but we don't seem to be looking there at all.

AyeDubbleYoo
Really not fussed where our players come from tbh. Neither am I, it just seems self-defeating to be looking so exclusively at one market. We need a Graham Carr who knows about other countries in Europe. geordiedean
we haven't had a history of mass success with the French and most of the French lads I've seen in black and white over the last 20 years have a heart the size of a pea...you can mock the English lads but what they lack in technical ability they make up for in spirit and heart.. Remember the lion that was Stephane guivarch world cup winner that we all had high hopes for....Debuchy reminds me of this clown
alexf
Wow. I can do that too. Remember Ginola, Robert even our current Ben Arfa. Think most would pick those over shit English lads who have a bit of "heart". Anyone can just pick examples to suit their agenda.

TRon
I wonder why Wenger doesn't have a problem with French players in the English league? If anybody should know their strengths and weaknesses by now you would have thought it was him.
geordiedean
Yes ginola was great for the short period of time and Robert was fantastic...you can't compare Ben Arfa to them 2 as he's done fuck all to be in the same bracket For them 3 see about 20 that have been mediocre to shite
Ronaldo
I wonder why Wenger doesn't have a problem with French players in the English league? That's because Arsenal's scouting is not restricted to one country. His most successful period as manager was when the side was filled with them.
