This is the one time i've really wanted us to snatch a player from you (modric was unexpected). I'm very pissed off that you're getting him. Brilliant signing.

It's worth the money just for that. ;)

Honestly though mate, he's been one of my favourite non spurs players for a while now. I've seen more than enough of him to comfortably say that he'll be a massive success in this league. He has absolutly no faults (except maybe that he's not exactly fast, but fast enough). His reading of the game is immense. No doubts he'll be a future captain at Newcastle.

The only other non spurs players in world football i like as much as Coloccini are Goran Pandev from Lazio and Angelo Palombo from Samp. Both will tear this league apart if given the chance

Delighted about this tbh.

Beye - Faye - Coloccini - Enrique

Looks very good.

To be honest I would be happier if Taylor was at the back and faye played dm instead of butt

Does have a nice solid look to it...

Newcastle close to sealing  capture of Deportivo defender Coloccini

By Martin Hardy Last updated at 11:58 PM on 01st August 2008

Newcastle United officials were busy on Friday night trying to push through the signing of Argentinian defender Fabricio Coloccini.

Deportivo la Coruna president Augusto Lendoiro had warned Newcastle that the deal would be postponed if it was not concluded quickly.

The two parties were £1.4million apart in their valuation of the 26-year-old centre-half but a compromise is believed to have been drawn up.

The package, put together by Dennis Wise and Tony Jimenez, involved an £8.8m downpayment plus potential add-ons of £800,000.

That was short of Deportivo's asking price but the parties were attempting to negotiate a settlement with Coloccini still desperate to move to St James' Park.

Beye - quality

Coloccini - World class

Faye - average

Enrique - average

Looks fine for a top 7 finish,,,but then again

Smith - bad

Ameobi - bad

we'll probably finish around 14th again
