Syrette
Bet the likes of Xisco feel just grand. Without them meaning to at all their arrivals have played a part in Keegan's departure.
Cronky
Owen's position will be the same as it's been for the last three years. If a bigger club comes in for him, he'll be off like a shot. If not, he'll stay.

I do feel sort of sorry for those two. They won't be popular, and it really isn't their fault.

Guest northwestmag1892
Best of luck to the lad. He deserves to be playing for a better run club than this. Yeah, he deserves a better run at Ascot.
Nicky
He'll be gone, which is a shame. I think he would have signed had we offered him a deal, at the right time and not in the public domain. Good luck to him.

tmonkey
Nailed on he'll leave on a free. Impossible to see him staying with a club in such turmoil. Can only hope that he is motivated enough to have a good season with us. That way, we have more points on the table whilst at the same time good form from him will surely see a top four side pick him up on a free (Liverpool as a minimum), which means at least he wont sign for a "rival" mid table Premiership club. Cajun
Never thought he would sign a new contract anyway.
JH
Was reading in one of the papers today, they reckon despite the 'statement' that was released a couple of weeks ago, Owen still hasn't been given an offer, and I reckon he won't get an offer until Ashley has sold the club. Bye Bye Mickey.
Decky
His future depends on who buys us, if its a billionaire with big ambitions then he will sign, if its another Ashley then he is off.
Begbie
If u guys runned a club, would you pay 120k a week for a player that only played around 46 games since 2005.
David28
If u guys runned a club, would you pay 120k a week for a player that only played around 46 games since 2005. I would do it. He was very unlucky with his injuries imo and in the around 46 games he also scored more than 20 goals.
stozo
Well we can certainly say now he won't get a contract offer until the club has new ownership. So in theory he could sign with another club in January before the club is in a position to offer him a new deal.
Cajun
Isn't the January thing only for clubs in a foreign league? Don't think Owen will be rushing off to another league again.

Novocastrian
The Owen situation is just another example of how the new, much vaunted, "system" has singularly failed to do its job. How long do they need to offer him a contract, ascertain whether or not he'll sign it and if not sell him and bring in an alternative? Rumours that he was hawked around the PL in the dying hours of the transer window just exemplify the sorry mess we have been left in.
Cajun
How much would we have got for him in the summer? I think I would rather risk losing him on a free than selling him and trying to replace him with someone just as good.

Guest Gemmill
If there is a silver lining to all this it's that Barton, Smith, Butt, Duff and Owen are history. They haven't done enough for the club in their time here. Did you see him yesterday? Streets ahead of anyone else on the pitch and we won't see a player that good in black and white for a LONG time after he goes. And yet you want to see the back of him. Quality.
