The Newcastle United Transfer Thread: D-Day [Spoiler: Not Much Happens]

Recommended Posts

out of the list of players that have scored against us, it can only be denilson really. we could get samba too, but bburn wouldnt loan him. and i'd be dead happy with denilson and riise (throw in appiah and we're laughing)....even though some people thought riise would be crap when we were linked with him in the summer, who'd seriously not take him now?

im just worried about who he'll sell....

Have I missed something, but is Riise one of the £10m players he was talking about from the articles this morning.... despite the fact he said he's actually worth £2m?!?

There is absolutely no chance of us getting Denilison here. He's been excellent for Arsenal this season, and is well worth his first team place. I think its more likely it will be someone like Miller from WBA.

Anyway, got to agree, loans look to be the only way to go for us this window. No player is going to want to move on a permanent with no permanent manger or owner in place. Its just the players contracts that are running out at the end of the year we really face losing now.

NEWCASTLE United will attempt to sign Norwegian wonder boy Per Ciljan Skjelbred if Mike Ashley is still owner of the club in the new year.

United have been tracking the player since Dennis Wise and the now-departed Tony Jimenez arrived at the club.

But a bid to bring the Rosenborg star to Tyneside is believed to have been blocked by former boss Kevin Keegan as part of the wrangle which resulted in him quitting the club.

The collapse of the deal to capture the talented 21-year-old midfielder in August left the player devastated, but since then the Magpies have continued to scout the player.

And the Chronicle understands that an agreement is in place for Skjelbred to sign for United in the next couple of months – depending on circumstances surrounding the ownership of the club.

A source close to Skjelbred said today: “The clubs have apparently reached agreement for a January move for Per Ciljan Skjelbred from Rosenborg to Newcastle – if the club is not sold and Joe Kinnear remains manager come January.

“Nothing is official until then.”

Skjelbred is rated at £7m and is believed to be a Toon fan, but Bolton, Blackburn, Hull City, Spurs and Aston Villa are all interested in the youngster.

And established Norway international striker John Carew has recommended the player to Villa manager Martin O’Neill.

The source added: “There's been no say on a price tag as of yet, but it's fair to assume it would be around £6m-7m.”

Transfer chief Wise is thought to be pushing for this deal, as he did before the end of the last transfer window.

Wise has also been spotted at one or two matches at Rosenborg himself, along with other Newcastle scouts, to check on Skjelbred since the deal collapsed in the summer.

And if Kinnear doesn't want/rate him?

What a fucking stupid way to run a club man.

If we actually do get him in January, I hope the fans won't go all "kill kill" against him, or others who might come in under the same circumstances, since he'll obviously be a Wise signing.

Same thing has already happened to Xisco unfortunately.

All pure speculation yet already we've factionalised, denounced and all but spat on every player mentioned and worst of all decried the efforts of JFK,the average fan on here will only accept a team of players who would/could display nigh on superheroe qualities, one being to jump through hoops whilst taking more knives in the back than Ceasar on a bad March day!

Patience is a virtue,a value wasted here more often than not by supporters.
