looks nice enough but im not a fan of the general new bowl look of stadiums. no doubt there will be no atmosphere either and even higher ticket prices

You're right it looks much worse then the Emirates, it looks like some kind of plastic moulded piece of shit to me.

Northumberland Development Project?

What cnuts. :dave:

I may be wrong but don't they have association with Northumberland through the Hotspur family or something like that?

Its in Nortumberland Park i think

Ah, ok.

The sentiment remains the same though. :shifty:

As a ground, White Hart Lane doesn't really have a lot of history, so it doesn't really matter what they replace it with.

It does look a bit like the Emirates, though. Although that's not such a bad thing.

How tacky making it quite so obvious you'll flog the naming rights by actually putting NAMING RIGHTS on the side of the renders.

How awfully, awfully déclassé

It looks a lot more like the Emirates than you're letting on.

Poor effort from the club. No doubt the facilities will be great but no real thought has gone into it and it isn't unique in any way.

That's what I hate about the new breed of stadia, they're so fucking bland.

The Emirates is a superbly furnished place to spend an afternoon in your leisure pursuit, there's no doubt you'll be comfortable,  but it is every bit as soulless as the Riverside, the Reebok or the Ricoh.

Everton's Kirkby plan (forgive me, I'm behind on developments there - in fact, fill me in on them if you've got time) looks like the worst of the lot.

Goodison may be decrepit in parts and unserviceable, but it IS Everton. Clubs seem happy to sell out that kind of history a little too easily for my liking.

I'm glad we never moved from SJP when it was proposed. I'll sacrifice a few thousand seats for playing on the same grass we always have.

That's the point isn't it.

I've watched Villa for over 30 years now, and even now when I go to the match, I think about the generations and generations of my family (right back to when the club moved there) who stood and watched us play on that exact same patch of grass.

The oldest stand in the ground wasn't even built when I started going, but even given that, take the club away from there and you break something which you cant fix again.

I don't care if Aston is a gun ridden ghetto miles away from where I live, I don't care if the area is deprived and struggling, I don't care if the public transport network makes it hard to get to, i don't care about any of it, that's the card we were dealt, that's where the club belongs, and that rectangle of grass is where we should be playing our matches.

Clubs who move to identikit stadia on ring roads want their fucking heads looking at.

The Baseball Ground was an incredibly intimidating place to go to, as was Ayresome Park, as was Roker Park at times. Look at the history Bolton had at their old ground.

All pissed away so middle class twonks can get to matches with the same ease they'd use for an afternoon at IKEA.

I'm no class warrior (I'm middle class myself, by any definition), but it really does break your heart.

You're right mate, the Kirkby stadium is bloody awful. Thankfully it has gone to a public enquiry where it is being torn to shreds for breaking loads of planning rules and doesn't look likely to go through.

It's basically a massive scam to let Tesco have a monopoly in that area and fill Kenwright's pockets with millions in extra cash when he sells up. Any other set  of fans would have driven him out by now. Ours are too stupid/apathetic.

It looks like a printer to me.  Iconic stadium, my arse

I was expecting to see a couple of slices of toast jumping out of the top, I suppose it gives them a head start if they're looking at Tefal as a potential stadium sponsor.

The problem from Spurs' point of view was that there wasn't any scope to increase capacity further at WHL without the extra seats having to be in corporate boxes to fund the development.  In short, a new stadium is the only option.

The computer graphics of the exterior are similar to the  Emirates but as both Levy and the Architects are saying that proximity of the fans to the pitch is the #1 priority and seating will be 15' closer to the pitch than the Emirates, I'm happy to defer judgement on whether it will be good or bad.  Most Spurs fans don't want an Emirates replica but Levy doesn't want that either.

Speaking of the Emirates, it was recorded in the Council Minutes that Arsenal said at the Islington Planning Committee meeting in October that approval for the  Queensland Road project (providing 700+ residential flats + assorted shops and offices)  needed to be granted in December to avoid potential financial cashflow problems.  The Planning Committee Meeting for 15th December was postponed as more consultation is required, the next meeting is in February and it's unlikely a decision will be made then either.  The rumour is that it will bring a Russian takeover and the return of David Dein ever closer.

The Club today revealed the first images of the Club's proposed new stadium design, part of the Northumberland Development Project.

Designs for the new home of the Club have been developed by KSS, leaders in stadia design.

Commenting on the release of the images, Club Chairman Daniel Levy said:

"The brief I gave the architects was to design an iconic stadium that would be one of the best in Europe. My over-riding priority is to re-create the terrific atmosphere we have at the current stadium, within a world class stadium that offers state-of -the-art facilities.

"This means designing a stadium which has supporters as close as possible to the field of play and not simply looking to chase headline capacity. Our fans will find themselves closer to the pitch than at any other comparable stadium in the UK. This design puts fan experience first.

"In addition to the stadium, we are designing great facilities within the overall masterplan that will add positively to the local environment and locality, components that can play a role in the regeneration of the wider area."

David Keirle, Chairman of KSS, outlined the strategy behind the stadium design:

"The key driver has been to deliver the best possible fan experience on all levels.

"The visuals of the new stadium show that it's really seen as a building which responds to the brand, which we see as representing style and flowing lines of football.

"We have spent a great deal of time looking at different roof formations. The roof has been designed to focus the noise back onto the crowd and onto the pitch. All seating is enclosed, there are no open corners, so everything is focused back onto the pitch and the acoustics will maximise the impact of the vocal support from fans. The stadium will have a roof that allows us to have four large screens up in the top corners, which means every spectator will be able to see a whole host of information.

"The plans we have produced will result in close proximity for the fans to the pitch, we are going to be metres closer than other stadiums of comparable size. We are fine tuning the plans and these will ultimately determine the final capacity."

The new stadium will also benefit from a Club museum, shops and homes, new facilities for the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation and important public space.

The plans will enable the team to remain at the current site throughout construction.

Daniel Levy added:

"Development projects on this scale take a long time from the initial starting point to final completion. Any new stadia we have seen recently would have been designed at least eight to ten years ago. We are designing for our future and this stadium design has been described as the first of the next generation of stadia.

"This development is more than just somewhere where the team can play football. The Northumberland Development Project will deliver substantial investment for the future of the Borough and will benefit the community.

"It's about leaving a legacy for this great Club and, once delivered, I hope all our fans around the world will be very proud."

Looks to me like they've just copied the Emirates design plans. Something like 55-60k seats apparently.

Looks like a toilet tbh.
