Bergvall would be rooted to our bench. They don't have a central midfielder which gets in our team.

He would but he’s a better option off it than Longstaff.

They are crackers there's a reason why they're 16th in the table to then basically say that majority of there players are better than ours. 😂

Quote on TheFightingCock about us while watching our game last night:

"They are still boring and predictable to watch but yeah that starting 11 is clear of us by a good margin right now.

Players we have that start for them:

Vicario
Romero
VDV
Spence
Kulusevski
Maybe Maddison depending on the system

Players they have that would start for us:

Tonali
Bruno
Maybe Joelinton but he’s overrated
Isak
Gordon

Actually closer than I thought tbh"

Funny that when fans of other teams do this sort of thing they don't rate our players, but then Eddie rarely gets any credit either. Got to be one or the other surely?

It also shows how much Livramento and Hall are flying under the radar. I think Schar and Burn are underrated too although I'd definitely take Romero and a fit VDV in our squad. Everyone's forgotten about Botman obviously :)

One of the craziest things I've ever read.

Kulu on the right would be class. That fucking sniveling coward "Madders" wouldn't get near our team. Van de Ven would solve our pace at CB issue, providing he could stay fit. Johnson would be a decent bench option, so would Solanke. The rest are shit.

Nah romero is a heed the ball. Van der hamstring seems to be injured all the time.

Pope is better than vicario he's only had half a good season.

Kulusevski I'd take mind.

Yeah - appreciate the original comment was about starting places but I only said I'd take Romero and VDV in the squad. When fit (and that applies to both) VDV and Botman would be the best two centre-backs and Eddie probably wouldn't touch Romero anyway due to attitude. Am a big fan of Kulusevski and think he'd be great under Eddie.

My pet hate is that comments on the BBC/social media etc usually say "the players aren't good enough" when a team like Spurs or Man U underperform, and undoubtedly their recruitment has been shocking. However, people never seem to recognise the impact good coaching can also have, and how much can be done with a close-knit group and confidence. Sometimes it isn't as simple as saying player X is better than player Y, based upon a team's position or even a player's individual form, when it's usually more complex than that and depends upon how that player suits the system the team is using and the individual role they have. That's the challenge the recruitment team have in identifying the raw skillset in a player that will translate into performance in Eddie's system, whilst also balancing that with the player's personality. They've done well so far.

If you want success, recruit a good coach who can improve players, let him have a significant (if not final) say on transfers within budget, and give him time to get on with it. Something Mike Ashley absolutely failed to understand.

They have got some excellent players mind. Who starts for who, is always a bit silly, as no team is an exact replica of another, so it’s not always a fair comparison. For example, Cole Palmer’s brilliant, but what position would he play for us?

What they haven’t got, which we do, is an elite manager.

Hard to tell who would do what when we have a manager far better than their's.

DJ Spenk wouldn't get in over our full backs though and Vicario is a joke. Under Howe Kulusevski would, maybe Micky hamstrings and that's really about it.

Those two games being Villa away and Brighton at home…

Both of them going for Europe, honestly I think the most Spursy thing they could do is win those two games, but lose the cup final between.

I'm really conflicted about who I want to win the EL final, but I think I'm leaning towards Man Utd. Man Utd in the near/mid term are likely to start challenging for CL places again, they can't carry on being a clown stepping rakes*, eventually they'll hit lucky with a good manager and/or a servicable squad. Whereas denying Spurs CL cash damages their ability to rebuild the squad and become a serious CL rival in the near term more.

What would a Europa League trophy mean for Man Utd? Not much in reality, they've won it before and I doubt they consider it one of their greatest achievments. Wheras as the Europa League would free Spurs from their 'serial loser', 'bottlejobs' 'Spursy' reputation to some extent. We all now know what a sheer relief it is to get the trophy drought monkey off your back, but I don't want that for Spurs, the league needs a laughing stock.

I really liked Ange at Celtic and I'd be happy for him personally to win the EL, mainly to stick it to the media and his own fans who've been giving it stinking to him, but frankly, their fans don't deserve the joy winning that trophy would bring.

Interested to hear your thoughts. One thing that I hope the whole football world can agree on is that neither of these cunts deserve CL football and whichever of these jokers fumbles over the line, it doesn't vindicate their trainwreck of a season nor does it excuse them essentially forfeiting the league since March.

*they can, I suppose

Yeah, I hate the idea of either of them getting Champions League next season and the money that comes with it and the ability to rebuild, particularly Manyoo.

But, I hope Ange and his arrogance of "I always win something in my 2nd season, Mate" doesn't get to leave with that intact on his CV.

As much as it pains me to say it, but Man Utd are the preferred option. It’s simply down to how you say, they are PSR resilient. Spurs less so long term. Additionally it maybe a case of their story overshadowing ours, same with Crystal Palace in the FA Cup.

Rather Spurs, Man U could be in real terminal decline without CL money and status.

They'd be able to fire their fraudulent manager and potentially get things sorted top down.

This is childish and petty.

They are 16th/17th, winning the UEFA cup wouldn't overshadow our season, where we've won a trophy and could potentially have a 2nd place finish.

The UEFA cup win is a nice cherry on shit show of a cake. More so for Man U.

Palace over City for obvious reasons, you'd expect Newcastle fans to be able to empathise with their position.

A lot. People need to stop looking at us like we're the Man United of the 90's and 00's. Winning any trophy is huge, especially with how poor the season is without it.

You’re the most guilty one on here of doing that.

I get that, what I was getting at is that winning this years EL isn't something that'll change the fabric of who you are. Winning the LC was transformational for us, winning the EL would be for Spurs, winning the FA Cup would be for Palace.

If you win the EL, it isn't going to be a particuarly useful weapon for you in the bragging right war against City & Liverpool, all it'll do is redeem a catastrophic season somewhat

Given Ratcliffe’s pleading of poverty, onerous legacy contracts and £30m drop off in league position merit money this season, plus adidas being able to pay them less sponsorship money for failing to make the CL I’m all for seeing these arrogant dickheads brought down a peg or two and brought out of their media fluffing bubble into cold hard reality.

Plus @leffe186 isn’t anywhere near the despicable wind up merchant as@Froggy is!

Last season they made £37m in merit payments from U.K. and International. This season 16th would net them £14m and 17th £11.3m. By contrast we got £39.4m and could go up to either £53.5m for 2nd.

No CL would see them drop the c.€50m they’ve earned in the EL for reaching the final with no European revenue coming in. That’s another chunky drop off. Then reduced payments from adidas - £10m a season deductible for not being in the CL.

Brexit Jim will have to find a lot of dinner ladies and stewards to sack to make up that shortfall.

Don't care.

Due to their ownership both aren't title threats IMO. Due to finances Man U in particular will always be competitive. But Levy will never spend the money and Man U won't make enough compounded good decisions.

Both of their managers aren't the right men for the jobs.

Its such a shit situation to be in, having to decide between Spurs and Manure.

I've thought long and hard about it, and have yet to still decide who I would prefer to win the EL. Fuck them both.
