UV
Spot the difference. Judge Henry Globe told him: "The verdict is a credible verdict on the full facts of this case, and you walk away from this court with your reputation intact." Judge Henry Globe, told the footballer he had committed "a violent and cowardly act". Judge Globe told him: "You have a high profile as a footballer and you know that draws attention to you. Yet you drank to excess and behaved in an aggressive, disgraceful manner."
Guest ObiChrisKenobi
Man, that's pretty disgusting like. All being charged on the same offense, all but one found guilty... disgusting.
Dokko
Man, that's pretty disgusting like. All being charged on the same offense, all but one found guilty... disgusting. ikri
Absolutely disgusting decision. If it had been anyone else other than an established England "star" they'd have been found guilty.
Adam
Probably been said, If this was Barton, now he has been a twat at times, but if he had beaten the guy up in the way gerrard did the press would be calling for his head. Total fucking joke.
dcmk
Gerrard admitted the charges and then got found not guilty? Eh? admitted to hitting him denied the affray charges.

dcmk
Was expecting this to happen but it doesn't change the fact that the decision is an absolute disgrace. "At all times you insisted that you only ever acted in what you believed was reasonable self-defence to what you understandably, albeit you accept mistakenly, believed was an attempted attack upon you by Marcus McGee. "What at first sight to the casual observer may seem to have been a clear-cut case against you of unlawful violence, has been nowhere near as clear-cut upon careful analysis of the evidence." beardsleymagic
This is a fucking joke. People have the nerve to talk about the corruption in other countries, yet this just goes to show that in this country if you have money and celebrity status (with the media on your side of course), you can get away with just about anything. As it was said before, whilst i'm not in anyway supporting Barton, if this had been him instead of Gerrard the outcome and media reaction would have been different. Complete double standards. Guest rinaldo #18
This is a f*cking disgrace! Had it been Joey, he'd be sentenced to prison tbh.
UV
The verdict is disgraceful, but not surprising considering it was a jury trial at Liverpool Crown Court. I find the judges sycophantic and hypocritical summing up utterly disgusting though. Not even a hint of criticism for Gerrard's actions, he was merely an innocent bystander who was accidentally drawn into the fracas through no fault of his own. The verdict is a credible verdict on the full facts of this case, and you walk away from this court with your reputation intact. You did not start the violence, it was started by the violent elbowing of Marcus McGee in the face by one of your friends John Doran. At all times you insisted that you only ever acted in what you believed was reasonable self-defence to what you understandably, albeit you accept mistakenly, believed was an attempted attack upon you by Marcus McGee. Yes it's perfectly reasonable when someone falls into you because they've been elbowed to give them a couple of upper cuts. Purely self defence. Shameful. Ocho
He's bang to rights on CCTV and admits hitting the bloke. For some strange reason, the jury found that he was acting in self defence. Completely messed up. I wouldn't be surprised if the jury was made up of reds. All the blues in the office (I work in Liverpool) are fuming.
midds
Disgraceful. The legal system in this country is truly fucked up. It all equals out in the end though. Life will get him back eventually.

Segun Oluwaniyi
Maurice Levy defending? That's just a joke. He probaly shouldn't have been going to jail or anything, but for him to actually get off of all charges is just insane. It is an insult to the intelligence of the British populace. All of you should be insulted.
