fredbob
This is THE biggest decision in the clubs history, I really really hope they get it right, Id love to go back when we had Keegan and thigs seemed so rosy, not had that feeling in 6 years. Praying someone sees the light, the problem isnt the ingredients, its the chef.
chicago_shearer
You have to sack Kinnear now, you really do. If you sack him now you can probably avoid the massive payout Ashley will be forced to shell out for when we sack him under a long term contract next season. Even if you are optimistic/deluded enough to think a Joe Kinnear team can beat the drop this season, there has been nothing to suggest he is capable of taking this team forward. Not in squad motivation, not tactically and not in the January window. At best, we stay up by the skin of our teeth and prepare for the same again next season. At worse, we do a Leeds and sack him when we are in the bottom third of the fizzy pop after a month or two. Sacking another manager, again, is embarrassing and might not result in a better replacement. There is a big chance it won't. But at this point it is like slamming on the brakes in a car accident when you realize a collision is almost inevitable - you do it anyway and hope for the best. Kinnear out. Tachikoma
He was OK when things were just 'not as good as we'd like', but now relegation looks on he's turning into more of a symbol of the decline than an agent of stopping it. If it was up to me a this point I would give Wise a go with Steve Black as coach in charge of motivation if we could get him. Getting the average players we have to perform above and beyond is out only hope now. If JK's attitude has gone then he's no good to us. Out of the frying pan and into the fire. If we're sacking managers just for that honeymoon period to get us out of relegation, it may as well be Shearer.
Guest justin99.
I can see Shearer managing Newcastle in the championship
chicago_shearer
All these people saying Shearer should earn his spurs by managing a small club in the lower leagues before taking a Premiership job....maybe he can have his chance at Newcastle. johnnypd
The most startling thing about the quote is that he expected to get £4m for Geremi. It fell through, Joe? No fucking shit. he's lost it. not just the plot, but seemingly the will to carry on. lets hope he finds in time for the sunderland match...

Guest Phil K
Do you suggest we assassinate someone ? Kinnear ? Ashley ? You planning to be behind the Grassy Knoll or whatever ? Get a Makem set up as patsy ?
hakka
Do you suggest we assassinate someone ? Kinnear ? Ashley ? You planning to be behind the Grassy Knoll or whatever ? Get a Makem set up as patsy ? Given poor Kinnear's heart, he may end up assasinating himself for takin a job way out of his depth like this and it going tits up. Guest Howaythetoon
Kinnear has been broken by Newcastle United. Don't worry Joe, happens to them all. Poor bastard.

eaststar
The most startling thing about the quote is that he expected to get £4m for Geremi. It fell through, Joe? No f***ing s***. mackems.gif I think it's a conspiracy to appoint Wise as the manager. Step 1: Ashley appoints one of the most outrageous managers (i.e. Kinnear). Step 2: Kinnear is such a sideshow that all hatred and spite directed at the 'Cockney Mafia' turn towards Kinnear. Step 3: Ashley appoints Wise who is then seen as the saviour of the club. Open your eyes people - it's all there in black and white.....
Dave
Confirmed by Llambias today then. Awesome. “Joe has incredible experience. “He’s got incredible vision and he’s a good man manager. We think he’s a good fit for us, he’s realistic of what he’s looking for. “He’s what we are looking for. Whether he takes the contract, we don’t know. And if he doesn’t we’ll review the situation and we’ll go out again and find somebody else. “Joe is a football man, he’s qualified. We have confidence in him. Joe will do a good job and he will get us out the crap we’re in.”
beardsleymagic
Seriously, how can anybody believe this "challenging for everything in 5 years" crap, when the man they truly believe will achive that will be JFK? They are at best deluded... or worse incompitant.
TRon
Sad indictment of whoever is making the appointments on the football side that it might be the medics who will prevent Joe from taking up this contract.

Kaizero
For what it's worth, we could do a lot worse than Kinnear. *coughvenablescough*
Wallace
The most important decision they have to make is the choice of manager. The well-being of the whole club depends upon it. I just don't see how the board cannot see this. Newcastle's biggest failing has been its inability (with the exception of Keegan and Robson) to choose good managers. You would think the new lot would be a lot more imaginative. It seems that the only criteria is that they are cheap and they do as they are told. It's not like he can go out and say "no, Kinnear is something of a clown and we obviously didn't know what we were doing when we hired him. We'll get rid of him sharpish". He probably sends deep-fried Mars bars to Kinnear at the hospital.

I have no problem with him publicly praising Kinnear as long as in the summer (or earlier) the right appointment is made for the right reasons.
