Kimbo
You can't base fitness on weight anyway. I'm almost 16 stone, but I'm not overweight. A grown 6 foot man will struggle to be below 14 stone if he has any muscle mass. That's not true at all. If you're 6 ft and 14 stone you're overweight according to the body mass index. It's 196 pounds, in boxing terms that's 4 pounds under being a heavyweight. It's BIG.
Segun Oluwaniyi
BMI doesn't take into account muscle mass. It assumes everyone male in the world has the same amount.
Kimbo
BMI doesn't take into account muscle mass. It assumes everyone male in the world has the same amount. But it's not a good thing for an athlete to have too much muscle. I think if you're 26, 14 stone, and 6 foot then you either have too much muscle or too much fat. But footballers, tennis players, boxers etc should be normal.

Bad Mongo
Going by Wikipedia, the swimmer Michael Phelps has a BMI of 24.4, just slightly below the "overweight" limit (25). I've got more fat on my BMI 21.5 body. Lennox Lewis's BMI was 29.7 (6 ft 5 in / 250lbs) in his prime. Muscle just happens to be much heavier than fat. Guys like Phelps and especially Lewis are freaks. Tyson was 5'10 and 220lbs, he wasn't unathletic. Nolan is a normal bloke though, he isn't born with huge shoulders like these guys, and if he is 14st i would find it a little odd.

Guest sondre
bmi is a simple, out-of-date method to decide if people are obese, normal or thin. thing is, this method doesn't take ahtletisism into the equation. isn't kolo toure pretty fat if you check is bmi? i would class him as super-strong, not fat at all. Colo is the same height and 12st 3, Beye is the same height and 12st 4, Enrique is the same height and is 12st, Taylor 6'2 and 12st. 14st just seems a bit high to me. Guest JamesyJazz
Sound player to add to our squad. We won't go down. If we get behind the lads, voice our support, wait 'till the injured lads come back into the squad and reclaim their places when proven, then we should by all reasonable luck be ok. Remember we are only round about the half way mark in the season.

It would be more disturbing if all that could possibly be right than it would be if Nolan and Viduka had the same BMI.
