Some old Ryan Taylor thread

It's funny that Milner still isn't considered good enough for us yet he's an integral part of a top 4 side and is being almost universally praised.

Not by Villa fans.

You might want to look at the last couple of pages of this thread on the Villa forum then where they couldn't possibly be praising him any more.

I can't remember the last time we were so enthusiastic about one of our own players.

Mate has just texted me saying he'll sign on the dotted line tomorrow lunchtime.

Don't know where he's getting that from fwiw.

Why are such lines dotted? Surely it would be much neater if it was a solid line, unless Mike Ashley is insisting we save printer ink by using the dotted format.

The cunt's probably got a dot matrix.

Milner was a good player for us playing in an unstable team. He is a good player playing in a stable team now and that's why he is getting praised. KK knew how good he was, so did M'ON.

Would be pleased with this move, if we could get cash + Taylor for Zog it'd be a bonus. We need players that are up for the fight right now not someone who's sulking because he hasn't left the club yet. Would hope if he signed he'd be scoring a few wonder goals for us rather than against us all the time!

This off the Ronnie Gill

tbh cannot believe the part i have highlighted and if thats true why the f*** would we do that :idiot2:

Taylor can operate as full-back on both sides of the field and has been playing on the left wing for Wigan in recent weeks.

He has scored four of his six Premier League goals against Newcastle and has proved to be a serial menace to the black-and-whites.

Ryan Taylor

Wigan’s Geordie boss Steve Bruce will not want to lose Taylor but knows that the Merseyside-born player is out of contract at the end of the season and can walk away for free in June. But Wigan have until Monday night to make up their minds whether to cash in now after a £1.5m move by the Mags.

[glow=red,2,300]The offer – believed to be payable in two instalments – hasn’t tempted Wigan so far, but Taylor is believed to be keen on the switch to St James’s Park.[/glow]

And with Charles N’Zogbia vowing never to play again for the club, a deal could be thrashed out that sees the sulky star heading to the North-West to join former team-mates Titus Bramble and Antoine Sibierski at Wigan.

A source close to 24-year-old Taylor told the Chronicle: “He’d love to make the move to Newcastle. He sees it as a big move in his career.

“Ryan has been in talks over a new contract, but they haven’t really progressed.

“He’s grown restless and sees this as the right time to move on.”

Taylor’s run of goals against Newcastle started in 2007 when he scored from a free-kick in a 1-0 win against Glenn Roeder’s side.

He repeated the trick again on Boxing Day 2008 against Sam Allardyce’s side at the JJB Stadium. And, after scoring a stunning 20-yard effort at Gallowgate in the 2-2 draw this season, he followed it up with another curling set-piece past Shay Given, 12 months to the day after the goal that sunk Big Sam to help Bruce’s side to a 2-1 win.

Yet he has bad memories of Tyneside too after breaking his leg in two places at Kingston Park in 2006 while playing against Newcastle reserves and spending time in hospital in Newcastle.

He joined Wigan from Tranmere in 2005 for £1.25m.

Why is that strange? ???  Just about any transfer fee these days is paid in installments.

For that small amount though ,if it was 6 million etc fair enough.

There's not exactly a lot of it about at the moment

So if we take that as being true thats it for any other quality coming in with a more hefty price tag on that principle.

Which planet do live on. Any chance to slpit it up regardless of the amount has to be good?

leave's some spare for a hefty price tag

Medical on Monday according to SSN.

Craig David reckons Taylor was on the Wigan coach with his agent tailing in the car behind. Coach pulls over and Taylor gets out and hops into the agent's car and heads up here for a medical. The Nuffield is not available for medicals on a weekend so he's having one on Monday.

Supposedly.  ???

Hopefully we sort personal terms over the weekend and have the contract ready for him to sign early on Monday.

I don't think my heart could take it if we went past about 1'o clock without signing him.

We've got two decent players and still made a profit.

:kinnear:

both signings are very much 'Everton', 'Villa' type signings. Steady, English and value

Got a feeling there'll be quite a bit of whinging about net spend after this window as well

Definitely.

It is good business though.

We've essentially swapped a bad apple in N'Zogbia for Nolan and Taylor.
