Just seems like hyperbole to me. If someone were a very, very poor player I'd imagine I'd be able to pick out 5+ games in which he's had a shocker. Doubt I could do this with Raylor. Obertan however.......

As for not having been found out due to the efforts for others, if he were as bad as you make out his shitness would surely override even Jonas' world class abilities. He's obviously nothing special but I don't get particularly worried by his presence in the starting XI.

I always groan like. He's not got enough imo to assert himself on a game and typifies the neagative approach we're going into games with. Battle hard to stop teams creating at the expense of our own creativity and hope for a free kick or corner for Raylor to score or Ba to nod in. Doesn't seem to be working. Of late at least.

Well quite frankly you should.

If he's such a good player, it makes me wonder why there was absolutely nobody calling for him to be in the team in the Championship. Before Routledge there was Guthrie out there being terrible and also Pancrate who was far from popular yet nobody even then ever thought Taylor was up to it.

A few decent games at left back and suddenly everyone's singing his praises as a right sided midfielder in the Premier League.

I like him, he's a great squad player, cracking right foot and gets into the box better than most of our midfielders but in terms of playing a decent passing game, he is a million miles away. Nowhere near enough movement for a start.

Don't think he's a brilliant player, certainly don't think he's a "very very poor" either.

He's a PL squad player, who can run with and strike a ball, take a great set piece and cross the ball, whilst getting a couple of goals in the process.

I like him.

Did he even actually put in a few decent performances at left back?

Whenever the opposition had an attack down his side the first thing I thought was "shit, where's Jonas". He was for the most part shocking there and has looked like a midfielder playing as a full back on his wrong foot. I've said it a few times but I personally blame his selection there for Jonas' apparent loss of any ability to attack this season, because prior to the start of this season, many (myself included) were praising how much better he had been in the past 12 months.

The only reason I can think people would want to see Taylor right midfield is because he has a few of the attributes in him to be a potentially half decent player there. Unfortunately he falls short in a lot of the other required areas.

He's scored twice from how many free kicks?

2 free-kicks in 3 years now.  Not really a free-kick specialist.

Sunderland, Scunthorpe, Chelsea and Ipswich off the top of my head.

I'm surprised we don't let Yohan take more after his one against Man United.

Think it depends on the position of the free-kick. If it's positioned towards the corner of the 18 yard box, then Raylor is the likely candidate to take it but if the free-kick is more central, then it's Cabaye's.

Raylor's a defender by trade and he's not what you would describe as a footballing full back either like Beresford was or Ashley Cole. If you were to pick either him or Santon to carry the ball into the opposition half, who would most people say had the tools to do it? Of the two, Santon's a far better footballer in the attacking sense if you take dead balls out of the equation, yet we wouldn't dream of playing Santon in midfield. Of course it's going to limit our game if you put a defender in midfield.
