How can we protest and yet still support the team?

Unfortunately I dont think there is anything we can do.

As long as we continue to to do what he claims to do, "subsidise" the club, he can hold out for his asking price, which is a shame.

I wasn't aware the boycott started from day one of Ashley arriving...

Isnt the catering sub-contracted out? And I seriously doubt a few thousand toon fans at best boycotting a National and International sports franchise will make the slightest bit of difference to him like.

Tough question, as supporting a football club is associated with so many emotions. For a start I'd say just go to the game (for those who can) and support the players on the pitch as this is not their fault. And I'm not talking getting rid of the 'deadwood' players. They have nothing with the day-to-day running  of the club. As much as you'd like to blame bad players, this problem is simply down to the administration and owner (top management).

we could throw things at Ashley (designate those with the best throwing arm)

sing anti-Ashley songs, completely avoid the official shop, makes flyers and turn them into paper aeroplanes during the game. List is pretty endless

I'd like to ask the protesters what they thought they were achieving. Bar scaring off any potential new manager or investor.

For evil to succeed it only takes good men to do nothing.

"Evil"

You make him sound like the Sheriff of Nottingham.

There are ways to go about things CP40. Protesting should be a last option, not a bunch of drunk idiots first option.

He might see a tiny bit of a drop in sales in the Newcastle stores.

I know someone who works in his shop in Toon and he said since KK left its been less busy, but I think the recession has had more to do with that, although I'm in no doubt that fans have stopped buying from his shop.

I imagine it will pick up again should JJB go under

But that is not evil. Your definition of evil is what does not work CP. All protesting did was made us look worse in the light of the media, which was the last thing we needed to do. We needed to discuss the future of the club because as a man once said.

Shit quotation imo, you find out a lot more about what you truly believe and stand for when having a good argument. I know I have done over the past few years.

Obviously I'm talking about arguments between close friends / family etc. rather than someone I think is a tosser though.

Do what Manchester United fans did to JP McManus, bring the protests to where they will be noticed by Ashley away from the club, i.e. outside his home, outside his favourite casino, outside his business headquarters.

While maybe hassling Ashley at graft isn't the best idea. The group should look to work with other supporters groups especially those who have are/been in similar positions and see what they are doing/did in this situation.
