Raconteur
Both of these stories assume that being included in the U21 competition automatically means we have been awarded Category 1 status. However, I've seen no official confirmation from either the Premier League website or the club. (Having said that, the Premier League's "Kids/NUFC" page has Dan Gosling listed as a player to watch, so I don't know how reliable their website is! )
BottledDog
If we don't have a category 1 status academy, how are we playing in the under 21 premier league? You had to be category 1 to be included. Did they just let us in to fill the numbers? No doubt about it Agreed. If you actually had a Category 1 academy I presume you would be shouting it from the rooftops. From the Fan Forum Minutes - "The board stated that the club had spent significant sums on the development side to get the Academy up to Category 1 status (i.e. investment in staffing and facilities)." Does that suggest we've actually made it!?!? Wish they would shout it from the rooftops to be honest. It's difficult to get much sense from these short answers in a meeting without much, if any context. I think the wording is quite deliberate, and I am still firmly of the opinion that no, we haven't been awarded Category 1 status. These people are specialists in giving shifty, equivocal answers, and the only reason you would give a shifty and equivocal answer in this case is if the answer is "no"... That said, I would be happy to take it all back if there is a link to what ChricMcQuillan says...? That was my take on it. Would have thought we'd have had announced the shit out of it if it actually happened, and I certainly can't remember the story Chris is hinting at over the summer. But then again, vague hints again from the fans forum, and we still find ourselves playing in the Category One league. Bizarre.
Cheik The Room
u-21s won 4-3 away to West Brom. Vuckic scored twice and Bigi and young Adam Armstrong got one each. Thats five in five for Armstrong. Impressive stuff.

Smal
We do need to be pushing players like Streete through though if they're ever going to do anything for us.
basjen
I see Armstrong is banging them in for England and the reserves, still only 16. How is he as a player? Is he close to passing Campbell in the pecking order?
Jack Flash
I see Armstrong is banging them in for England and the reserves, still only 16. How is he as a player? Is he close to passing Campbell in the pecking order? He's only 16 so he's got 5 years left in the reserves before he's allowed a game in the cup. Massive potential though and certainly the best of the lot in our youth teams.
AlanSkÃrare
The way we handle our prospects I wouldn't hope for much. Campbell has to go out in January.

basjen
Any of our regular reserve watchers know how Campbell has been doing this season? I know he has scored in the last two games, the first ending a barren spell lasting at least since last spring. I'm a bit excited for Armstrong, 5 in 7 while still only 16. AlanSkÃrare
And how's Streete coming along? Pardew was bigging him up two years ago as well.
Martin Lol
Spurs are the opposition for Newcastle's u18's tomorrow. Perhaps not as high in your thoughts as the NE derby though......................
