The Newcastle United Transfer Thread MkII

If we stay up, inquiring about Paul Robinson wouldn't be the worst idea.  Lord knows we need a new keeper.

Is that for real?

?

He's definitely better than Harper and we can't exactly attract the world's best.  Hardly a bold suggestion like..

What's that based on? Today's match? ;)

As Jon says, I'd much rather just put Krul in.

Newcastle United tracking winger Erik Huseklepp

Seriousely..Huseklepp in the championship is crazy. The guy doesnt have a muscle in his body. He would get raped every game.

The thought of him in the Prem on the other hand is quite tasty.

Championship though, he'll get raped anally.

Surely if he's good enough he can figure out a way to get through the talentless cloggers who try to rough him up?

I wouldn't think that the defending in the Norwegian league would be nice and fluffy compared to the Championship either.

Fair point.

depends on the kind of winger he is, seems to me in the PL any winger who can beat a man regularly will get "the treatment" and it can be as bad as another other league for that

wide men who rely on their final ball (bentley or someone) will get less physical treatment as it's less required in order to stop them

flying wingers get took down, non flying wingers don't - jonas & duff are prime examples of this

I can name plenty of championship players who "aren't built for it". One of them scores nearly every week!

Erik Huseklepp from SK Brann in Norway is linked with a move to Newcastle.

link: http://www.nettavisen.no/innenriks/ibergen/article2615392.ece Its in Norwegian, but basically says that he doesn't mind whether NUFC play in EPL or Championship.

IMO: He's a good player, not as good as Per Ciljan Skjelbred, but he' go pace and likes to attack. The bad things are that  he tends to be inconsistent and has had some serious injuries. As long as he can stay fit, he can be a good rotiation player for us.

It also says that his agent doesnt know anything about the Newcastle-rumours..

He would say that just to push the price up... anyways.. always nice to see us being linked with a Norwegian player. Just wished NUFC went out and bought one. Maybe Reginiussen from Tromsø IL.

That doesnt mean that he is going to Newcastle.

My point is, if he continues to play like he has the last matches, someone bigger than us would pick him up this summer, especially if we are relegated. Brann needs the money to buy themselves a striker. Huseklepp creates a lot, but is not very efficient in front of goal.
