Ryan Taylor/Nolan

I don't know where is this set-piece specialist thing coming from? Taylor scored couple of them against us and apaprt from Steven's header in the opening game there's no evidence whatsoever about his specialist ability...actually he's just getting worse at them piece by piece! It really mus be bugging our other players(if there are any) who are supposed to have some ability at taking dead ball situations as they see Ryan being picked as 1st man to take them and see him constantly failing at them.

He offers nothing at all for the team and should be dropped ASAP! If Shearer was at the receiving end of those kicks no doubt Raylor would be gone by now!

His set pieces on Saturday were awful and in particular his positioning as a RB was rubbish throughout the game.  I am at a loss as to what he gives us apart from being a body to put on the park.

n'zogbia was refusing to play, was desperate to leave and had probably the worst attitude at the club. we shouldnt have kept him because he has a few good games a season.

you are joking aren't you

yeah, i was. that wasnt the situation at all.

Good. I'm pleased you don't recognise a situation whereby a talented player is unhappy at the club. Lets not bother to find out why, nor why he thinks Wigan is a step up for him.

Marvellous.

Welcome back to the old days, when we were run like a corner shop and had zero ambition.

N'Zogbia is at Wigan because his performances at Newcastle did not warrant a move to the places he wanted to go. He wore out his welcome at the club and now he's using Wigan as his "stepping stone".

and [on topic] Ryan Taylor is a superior replacement then ?

Raylor isn't much use at all and Nolan looked f**king useless, never went near our box or theirs. Lets not forget though that they were bought by a manager who you supported and considered a benefit to the club so you'll have to just grin and bear it if he buys shite like that.

As far as Zoggy goes, he wanted out when the Halls & Shepherds owned the club so that makes no f**king difference. The only bit you're right about is that he's way better than Raylor or Nolan. Shame the man you backed, Kinnear, doesn't agree.

Are these 2 really footballers?  :mackems:

These two show what little talent/sense/ability/sanity Kinnear has a manager of a football team, let alone a Premier one.

Taylor wouldn't be a good replacement for anyone.

Kinnear's lack of judgement is amply shown with Nolan and Taylor

But then Ashley perseveres with Kinnear as if he done a tremendous job instead of the unspeakable mess he has actually made.

So we can see where the fault lies really, I think.

What I said about Kinnear, was that IF we somehow managed to stay up, then he would deserve credit for at least instilling some fight into the players, and getting their heads up after the events of last september. That is not "supporting" him, just stating something, which IF you had witnessed the abject surrender the last 2 times we have been relegated, you would understand.

Did you witness them or not ?

The overall picture of a manager being made to buy sub standard players because his owner doesn't back him, is something you clearly don't comprehend. It is something myself and one or two others told you enough times though, which is that the owner of a football club CHOOSES to show ambition, or CHOOSES NOT to show ambition. We have an owner who has CHOSEN NOT TO SHOW AMBITION. Understand ? Do you seriously think any manager can put together a good football team when he is forced into the transfer market for sub standard priced footballers ?

It is true that zoggy wanted to go before, he won't be the first foreigner or French player to leave NUFC, or other clubs. But to Wigan ? He thinks wigan is better than us ? And to rub salt into it, they give us one of their poorest players plus cash for him ? If you can't see the significance of this, you're living on another planet.

Still, as presumably you and many others wanted, he certainly isn't one of those despicable "trophy" players [whoever they were anyway] so YOU should be happy. Oh, and you aren't "embarrassed" any more.

Thats my reply, despite not really wanting to go down this road all the time, but you've invited it.

I think most of us horrified but were willing to give him enough rope, and time

He's had more than enough time, and he's been a ***** DISASTER as a manager - along with Hughton and Calderwood

He's been significantly worse than either Souness or Roeder or Big Sam

Nolan has been completely anonomous in appearances so far for the club, Bolton  fans weren't that upset to see him go, that probably tells you something. Taylor is an championship player, nothing more nothing less, shouldn't be playing in the first team but with the injuries we have no choice in the matter.

Taylor is decent but no more. He had a stinker on Saturday but he is a handy player to have in your squad (not as a regular though). He's a player who would slot into a good team nicely and do a decent job usually providing sound passing and a bit of composure. In other words, put him in the SBR team and at right back and he wouldn't have half looked a decent player at right back in a good team. He doesn't have anything outstanding about him to warrant being an important part of the team. I would imagine he is on a fairly lowish wage (maybe £25,000?), and he is not one of the teams problems. Its the huge earners who are meant to be the players capable of making the difference who are making this club rot on the pitch.

the problem is though both Raylor and Nolan were obtained to improve the team and imho they are not contributing at all ,they just clog up a midfield who run around like headless chickens with absolutely no creation or ability .

They haven't contributed much at all that is true. You've already said the problem there though, they were bought to make a difference to a poor team but they don't have anything special about them to do that. Taylor is exactly the sort of player we should be signing to be cheap backup and he is the sort of signing we should be making before the season starts to bulk the squad up. You are in real trouble if you are signing these sort of players to make the difference to your team though. Because of what he's done in the past, Nolan clearly is a player who you would look at to make a difference (score goals for a start) but when was the last time he had a good season and scored a decent amount of goals? He's clearly overweight and he has no legs.

I'm in total agreement about N'Zogbia. I think he wasn't given the stage to perform at St James on a regular basis and that's why he left. I hear plenty of criticism of his game but it's pointless when he's been replaced by a player not fit to lace his boots. Taylor has no pace, no skill, no passing ability, no vision, no ability to beat a man and no confidence. Just what the fuck was the point?

The thing with N'Zogbia was that he always had the potential to score a goal out of nowt (like the one he scored against Sunderland). However a succession of managers didn't think to get a decent left-back in and used him to fill that gaping hole in the team. Had he been playing in midfield regularly then we would have seen a happier player I would think.

Anyway, he's gone now, Raylor looked abysmal on saturday and Nolan is not impressing either.

thats really correct. Apart from for some reason they didn't want to play Enrique, which IMO was madness, especially Allardyce who said that playing Zoggy at left back meant we were playing more of an attacking line up.

For me, Zoggy is an attacking left sided player, end of story, and if he gets his head together again, will be a very good one.

In Allardyce's first window he signed: Smith, Viduka, and Geremi.

I only disagreed with Smith at the time
