LRD
Sterling. Hodgson sure loves his Liverpool players. Livermore prob got called up cause his name starts with Liver- and has more in it.
MW
was lineker in the euro 96 squad?
AlanSkÃrare
How the fuck did Sterling get a call-up? Wonder what the likes of Nathan Dyer thinks of this.
Guest neesy111
was lineker in the euro 96 squad? He retired from International Duty in 1992 IIRC
MW
Why's it so much easier for the media to criticise a partnership than assert that we've not had a striker capable of showing up when it matters since Lineker - Shearer's '96 an exception? Lineker? Yes, Lineker. whats that about?

SEMTEX
sterling livermore lallallallana in squad now.
johnnypd
Funny, just a couple of days ago Rodgers asked for Sterling not to be put into the Under-21s just yet so that he wouldn't get all arrogant and think he's already made it. Wonder if the FA are trying to cap him early so he can't play for Jamaica
Dr.Spaceman
Sterling in the England squad??? What the fuck is going on man.
SEMTEX
My assumption was that all 3 of these players were just bumped up from U21 to fill the squad out. Fairly awful assumption given none of them were in the U21 squad, Lallana is 24 and Livermore is 22. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
ponsaelius
That's a likely explanation actually, johnny. (the Jamaica thing)

Beren
Senior appearances at club level you could count on your hands and in the England team
Groo
It appears that if you play for little old Swansea you don't get picked for England, I believe this would have been in the mind of Sinclair when he left and probably why we will end up losing Dyer. How Campbell was picked ahead of Graham last year was baffling, Britton doesn't get a chance even in friendlies.
Dr.Spaceman
Yup, it's shocking. I'd rather see Guthrie in there over Lallana as well.
AlanSkÃrare
Dyer has earned the call so much more than fucking Sterling. Shocking. Really annoyed and I don't even give a fuck about England. I think it has to do with the Liverpool aspect. Kelly, Henderson, Sterling, Gerrard, Johnson and Downing. Soon enough you'll start Jack Robinson, Jay Spearing and Shelvey as well. Tragic. Yorkie
I've been trying so hard to like England n'all.

gbandit
Hodgson is either a genius or a mentalist with these call ups. I really like him and couldn't care less about England but I disagree with his selections. Overall though, he's so likeable and England are so shit that it's not worth worrying about

Dave
I thought during the Euros that he was probably trying too hard to prove he knew what he was doing at Liverpool and now I'm convinced.
Ronaldo
Why's it so much easier for the media to criticise a partnership than assert that we've not had a striker capable of showing up when it matters since Lineker - Shearer's '96 an exception? Lineker? Yes, Lineker. whats that about? I've no clue what you're talking about, dude. Since Lineker (see '86 and '90) we've had nobody (bar Shearer's one off) who looked like scoring goals when it mattered in the tournaments. The press for some reason have continually ignored this fact, mainly due to the fact that most of them are in Rooney and Owen's pockets.
LRD
heard gerrard fell off his chair. Heard Shelvey got called up as replacement due to Gerrard's resultant injury.
Ishmael
Will only have a problem with this if those players are actually involved in the game and perform badly. If they're there to put out the cones, then whatever. Just like when Capello would call-up some random L2 goalkeeper as 'cover'.
