Guest Heneage
People seem to be forgetting that you take 23 players to this tournament, so in essence two full teams and a spare. The spare is always a 3rd keeper. True, but it can be any player of course. I'd imagine he will pick the following; GK; James, Green, Foster DF; Johnson, Brown, Ferdinand, Terry, Upson, Cole, Bridge, Lescott MF; Lampard, Lennon, SWP, Gerrard, Barry, Carrick, Beckham FW; Rooney, Defoe, Crouch, Heskey. tgarve
My squad would be- GK, James (no.1), Kirkland, Green, DEF, G Johnson, Terry, Ferdinand, Upson, Lescott, A Cole, Bridge, MID Lennon, Beckham, Carrick, Hargreaves, Barry, Gerrard, Lampard, J Cole, FOR, Rooney, Heskey, Crouch, Walcott, Owen. Hargreaves to cover RB. Would have jagyielka to replace hargreaves if he has lost it when he returns, but micah r. if he has hit some form. Cover would include downing, wright phillips, a young, c cole, richards, jagielka, milner, agbonglahor(instead of owen if he is in anyway unfit). tgarve
sorry about the prose, on my mobile on wap, il fmp on the comp. forgot totally about defoe, who i would have ahead of agbong and owen atm bt still stick by owen selection come the summer
Thespence
James, Green & Foster look like the GK's. So that's 3 The nailed on regardless of form:JT, Rio, Ash, Stevie Gee, Lamps, Barry & Wazza. That's 7 Done nothing wrong: Heskey, Crouch & Defoe. That's 3 Lack of players in their position: Johnson & Bridge. That's 2 So I reckon 8 spots are up for grabs/grey area. I reckon he will take at least 2 of the sprinters in Theo, Gabby, Aaron, A.Young & SWP.

You'd be a tit to not select 3 keepers, as it's perfectly plausible that 2 could get injured.

Guest firetotheworks
Whats happened to Wes Brown btw? Im not his biggest fan by any stretch of the imagination, but defensively he pisses on Glen Johnson from a very great height, and has experience playing at RB at the very, very highest level and succeeding at that level. Ronaldo
He should definetly be there imo
ponsaelius
I'm pretty sure you have to pick 3 keepers, I mentioned on another forum why no team ever risks just taking two and apparently there has to be 3 keepers.

Dave
So... Brazil this afternoon. I'll watch it but frankly I couldn't care less. International weekends just feel empty.
Neil
Indeed. I'll watch it because it's on, and I'd like us to win, but I really won't be bothered when we don't. That said, like others, I'm really looking forward to the WC.
Jill
Can't decide whether to bother with this. Might watch a film instead.

TaylorJ_01
The amount of injuries we have is scary. No Lampard, Gerrard, Ashley Cole, Beckham, Lennon, Walcott, Ferdinand, Johnson et al. Even more worrying is the article says its Wes Browns chance to shine! Brazil at full strength. Still think we can take them. Wishful thinking maybe. Guest ObiChrisKenobi
Don't give a shit about the England National Squad, but I'll watch the youth sides as they actually have some Newcastle players in it. Suppose I'm a bit fickle that I've only really enjoyed watching England when a Toon player has been in the squad.
