Funny isnt it, West Brom were a joke in the PL last season, even worse than us.

Yet they are probably favourites to beat us on the opening day, as their squad wont change much and ours is just a farce.

Last season we beat them with:

Harper

Steven Taylor

Bassong

Coloccini

Jose Enrique

Ryan Taylor

Nolan

Butt

Duff

Ameobi

Lovenkrands

Five of our first nine games are on the telly.

Small club nobody cares about and that.

Even when we are out of the top division we are still a big club and always will be. I did a thread a while back on big clubs being relegated, and I still think if Leeds ever get their act together and get back in the Premier the football world will be happier for it. Same goes for us, the Premier without Newcastle United isn't a bettter prospect and the real football people will admit it.

Would agree with that. Petty rivalries aside most proper football fans want to see Newcastle in the top division. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of Liverpool and Man U fans (local Liverpool and Man U fans incidently) who we spoke to in Liverpool and Manchester City Centre after the Liverpool defeat who all wished us well and commented about the size of our support and how they wanted us to stay up

Train home from Sheffield at 22.11 and 22.32 on a night time so it's still doable.

Wor lasses brother in law is from Sheffield originally and is a Sheff Wed fan so I am sorted for boxing day as his family all still live there. Might be stretching it too much though for the Sheff Utd one as he is away at sea when that's on.
