The improvement in Guthrie's performances has been unreal. He exuded confidence every time he was on the ball, released the ball at the right time and kept it when under pressure.

The change seems to be between his ears. Perhaps he's been under the shadow of the more vocal characters in Nolan and Barton.

I was never Guthrie's biggest fan but he's been class this season. Suffered a bit when Cabaye was replaced by Gosling but still an outstanding midfield performance. I agree with the general opinion, he was MOTM by a distance.

Genuinanly looks like he belongs in the midfield of a top 10 premier league side. Its funny how short some peoples memories are. Last season people never wanted to see him in a black and white shirt ever again, after his performance against West Brom at the Hawthorns. We need to have more faith in our players and support them to get the best out of them, much like Obertan and Raylor.

Its his emo eyeliner. It gives him powers. Powers of emotions. Powers of screamycryingshitemusic. Still, it improves his performances on the pitch.

Tbh, the way he is playing now Tioté better watch out.

Feels good with three good midfielders. Time to try Abeid and see if we have four good central midfielders.

Guthire man. You are now officially one of my new favorite players :smitten:

Good  game again today. His range of passing is certainly top notch.

Do lack a bit of pace to bring the ball forward though , manage to tackle the ball on a couple of occasions but lack the extra yard to take advantage of it.

Agree, apart from Smith, of course. That bloke's just a lost cause.

Was nice to see that with our 2 first choice central midfielders out Smith still isn't near the pitch.

A decent performance but lets not get carried away regarding new contracts and what not. He'd actually be a good player if he had a bit more gusto to his game over an entire 90 minutes. He put in a very good defensive performance today mind, helping protect that back-four and when on the ball he looked to play it forward. Neat and tidy and disciplined I'd say.

Been pleased if not a little surprised with his last couple of games. I wasn't sure we'd see him back in the team again, he just never seemed to be good enough. But fair play to him, he's obviously worked hard and the way he is playing he deserves to get the credit. Well done Danny lad.

He's always had decent skills on the ball and an eye for a pass (and yes he's had a mare or two along the way) but to me he looks physically in far better nick than last season.

Edit: I sort of agree with the post above!

Yep, I'd have been happy to see the back of him, but he's actually been playing fucking great the last two games. Let's hope he keeps it up. Great cover for Cabaye + Tiote should they get injured or when the latter goes away to Africa in Jan.

Showed his strengths today and proved he's very calm on the ball. I think he's playing for his next contract, be it with us or somewhere else he clearly wants to sign his next deal on the back of good form. My concern with handing him a deal would be that he doesn't suffer from Viduka syndrome.
