BeloEmre
Abdoulaye Meite is close to joining either Newcastle or Hull City on a year-long loan from West Brom, according to reports in the Ivory Coast. The defender is keen to play first-team football ahead of the World Cup next summer after losing his place in the Ivory Coast starting XI recently. The 28-year-old was expected to join the Tigers in the summer after Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo made it clear the centre-half was not in his plans, but a deal failed to materialise. Meite has made just two appearances this term, both coming in the Carling Cup, and admits that he expects to be moving on in the near future. "There are contacts but lets wait and see what will happen," he told Skysports.com. "I can't say anything yet. I need to play if I want to be involved in the World Cup." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11678_5587511,00.html

ElDiablo
Why would WBA loan to us? Also he could regain his place and isn't the African nations in Jan? Bit shit.
Fenham Mag
No thanks , not getting a game for West Brom so why would we have him
Dave
Do we need another defender anyway? Right back: Simpson/Zurab/S.Taylor/R.Taylor Centre back: Simpson/Zurab/S.Taylor/Coloccini Left back: Enrique/R.Taylor/Kadar
Thespence
Unless he has dramatically changed his game & he is now right winger I would rather we went with what we have at CB.

Cajun
Do we need another defender anyway? Right back: Simpson/Zurab/S.Taylor/R.Taylor Centre back: Simpson/Zurab/S.Taylor/Coloccini Left back: Enrique/R.Taylor/Kadar I don't think we do, he would get as many games here as he would at West Brom imo anyway. At the moment it would be Taylor, Colo, Zurab then Meite. Would rather we concentrated on brining in a winger now then anything after that is a luxury. Gash
Funny thing is, he will probably still choose Newcastle over Hull at the rate people have been turning Hull down!

JH
Do we need another defender anyway? Right back: Simpson/Zurab/S.Taylor/R.Taylor Centre back: Simpson/Zurab/S.Taylor/Coloccini Left back: Enrique/R.Taylor/Kadar Look at Wednesday's situation. Simpson could still be out, and Colo went off injured yesterday. The fact that Jonas, Geremi and Barton may still be out means we need R.Taylor in midfield, so who do you play alongside Zurab, Taylor and Enrique? He'd only play when injuries occur but another body is another body, and knowing us we'll need it at some point in the season.
Segun Oluwaniyi
Meite has turned ultra-rubbish since coming to England. Don't want him.

Kaizero
This has to be the biggest fail-story in ages Hull can't loan a player outside the transfer windows "Hmm, we need a story. Hum-de-do-de-do. Let's connect someone to Newcastle, that's always a winner. And let's throw Hull in there for good measure, well nice."
jdckelly
like he'd play ahead of colo/taylor/zurab

Segun Oluwaniyi
Meite has turned ultra-rubbish since coming to England. Don't want him. I rather admired him at L'OM. He was a rock for a good few years in France. He was even good for his first year at Bolton, but after that his career just fell apart. No where near his old level. Maybe he is just one of those players who are more comfortable in France, like Diawara.
