Mirror column tomorrow on Terry Connor and why he is being judged more harshly than another new Wolves manager would be

Oliver Holt ‏ @OllieHoltMirror

Connor being written off and ridiculed after 4 games in charge. Little wonder that would-be black coaches are dissuaded from taking badges

Holt really is a prick at times. I'm absolutely certain people aren't ridiculing Connor as a manager just because of his race.

John Barnes said exactly the same after he led Tranmere to 6 straight league defeats.  Football managers will always be judged on results ultimately.

Just been reading through all this. The man is a buffoon. What a ridiculous thing to say, now he's trying to cover his back by saying he wasn't going on about only Wolves fans. Who in the fuck else cares how well Wolves or Connor does. Idiot.

He's digging a proper hole with all of his replies to people. What a stupid comment to make.

What a cunt.

People are only judging him because A: He's the assistant to the guy they sacked, B: No one believes he is qualified for the position, C: He hasn't came in and done what he wash ended to do in terms of getting results and they have even played worse then what they did under MM's reign.

No decent person in the world is judging him because of the colour of his skin and to say a comment like that is just uncalled for. It's people like him who make those sorts of remarks and connections who give the morons in the crowds the idea that it's ok to shout abuse at people of a different ethnic background or abuse people on twitter etc.

John Barnes is a cunt too.

He's all behind this lets kick racism out of football campaign, going on the road saying how remarks of the nature are hurtful uncalled for but when a Liverpool player says those kind of remarks to another player he comes out and says he's done nothing wrong and he's innocent, it was all a big mistake etc.

This guy is a professional journalist and he can't even string a few words together in the right order. The oily little shit.

Seen this on RTG, apparently they had fenced it all off for them tonight, it was closed for the refit when we were down there earlier in the season. Should be interesting trying to see them enforce this if they stay in the league and we get a decent kick off time down there next season, Fernherst car park is home to some brilliant away day memories and it's normally one of our best supported away days.

The Anzhi Makhachkala thing is bloody depressing. At least with the likes of Real Madrid and PSG being full of cash, those are still two of the biggest clubs in the world. Man City and Chelsea were at a good level before the money arrived and it's pushed them onto a different level. Even QPR, as mental as that documentary was, they haven't gone wild with their spending and only have a team of Championship/Lower-to-mid Premier League level players.

It's just sad to see the likes of Samuel Eto'o who should be at one of the biggest clubs on the planet (and was at two of them) joining a side who were in the Russian second division 3 years ago, are only 8th now, have a 20,000 seat stadium and are located in a fairly shitty area, purely for the amount of money being given to him.

Yep. And it's not like he'd be poor if he hadn't moved. He'd still be earning a shit-ton.

See, this is what's so weird to me. How much difference can that extra money do when you're already on such an insane wage? Surely quality of life while you're playing should be considered and weighted against the extra money you'd make? I would so much rather live in Milan or Barcelona than in some shithole in Russia, even if I only made £15m instead of £25m a year or whatever.

The Anzhi players don't live or train in Makhackala, they live and train in Moscow which actually has some very nice and wealthy parts which is where I would assume all the players would live in and socialise. They only ever visit Makhackala for home games, they are flown in, escorted to the stadium, play, escorted to the airport and flown straight back out.

Sounds lovely

People are ridiculing the entire Wolves club tbh. I have respect for Connor taking the job on and he comes across well in interviews. Holt is just stirring shit with those comments.

Their defence from set-plays is atrocious.

As has been said though, they don't live there. Give me Barcelona or Milan (maybe not Blackburn) any day.

Every single season we get given hardly any fucking penalties at all and concede absolutely loads, it's bogus. The foul on Ba this weekend was a stonewall pen (the shirt pull from whichever no-mark Norwich inbred defender) if the Turner/Williamson one is given. It's fucking shit, and I hate it!

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has dodged a driving ban after his lawyer won an extraordinary argument in court.

Pulis was clocked doing 96mph in his BMW in a 60mph zone on the M42 after seeing his men thrashed 5-0 at Bolton, an offence that saw him exceed 12 points on his licence - and should therefore have earned him an automatic ban.

But according to a report in The Sun, his solicitor Mike Stephenson successfully argued to magistrates that Pulis would be so badly affected by losing his licence that it would put the club in danger of relegation - a punishment which would affect a huge number of people, businesses who have sunk £60 million into the club and several charities that Pulis supports up and down the country.

"They would suffer if they were relegated as a result - and the children who he would not be able to assist and the people of Stoke could suffer if Mr Pulis lost his licence," Stephenson told Leamington Spa Magistrates' Court.

Stoke are currently 14th in the table, 12 points clear of the relegation places with 10 matches left of the season.

Pulis, who is estimated to earn £1m a year, also claimed he could not use a chauffeur in case his driver discovered and then leaked secret details of transfers.

The Stoke boss, whose top-of-the-range BMW is provided free by local dealer Knights, was fined £2,500 but allowed to carry on driving despite now having 15 points on his licence.

Imagine being a postie there. Looks like the houses are randomly scattered. Do they even have street names?

So he's admitted in court that he conducts transfer business whilst driving? On his mobile phone? Otherwise that wouldn't be a problem.

Yes Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, when I see Stoke City I think of Stoke on Trent making lots of pottery, and therefore rush to order pots from Stoke.

Seriously, the amount of horseshit that's being given to allow Pulis to escape this driving ban is insane.

Away fans being moved at Old Trafford to top tier of North Stand. Trying to ruin atmosphere at every ground, not that there was much there anyway.

Funny when away fans get moved around. Wonder if the folks in the Level 7 corner ever think "mackems used to sit here". Maybe that's why they stand.

Oceanic XI: The world's youngest international football coach is English.

http://theballisround.co.uk/2010/08/04/the-oceanic-xi

Good luck to the lad. Although it never said his age, unless I missed it.

Dunno if it's been mentioned on here, but the lad that went over to coach there with his mate has wrote a book about the trip called Up Pohnpei. It's light reading but an enjoyable and uplifting little tale.

They've also just in the last hour hit their target for funding a documentary: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2028948731/the-soccermen
