Actually, I thought that in the Spanish version of Fawlty Towers Manuel was, in fact, a Mexican.

That is true. Manuel's character looks more Mexican than Spanish to a Spanish audience. To be honest the character's pretty racist but I love him all the same

Yeah, but he's also a vehicle for satirising the racism of Fawlty and the other characters. Fawlty Towers is basically a critique of English attitudes -- snobbery, racism, hypocrisy, fear of being found out.

Revealed: What BNP supporter Wayne Brown said to enrage his Leicester team-mates

Leicester City are considering the future of player Wayne Brown after an alleged racially abusive outburst in the Leicester dressing room, leaving him to see if he has a future in the English game. Contrary to reports earlier in the week, it was not merely Brown's boast that he voted for the BNP at the General Election which enraged his team mates, but the language and terms he used while doing so.

Having returned to the dressing room after training, a discussion was taking place between a group of players about the election results. Brown first told a stunned, racially mixed group of players that he had voted for the BNP, and was met with a volley of protest. Rather than defusing the situation, the Barkingborn player, where BNP leader Nick Griffin was wiped-out in the election by Margaret Hodge, and the party lost all its council seats, launched into an abuse attack on against ethnic minorities whom he claimed were 'killing this country'.

The reaction was furious and several players pointed out that, not only were Brown's phrases and views unacceptable, but that he had Asian, black and mixed-race colleagues. The argument spilled over into a treatment room, before a senior player intervened, told Brown that his views were unacceptable. Seemingly unconcerned at what he had said, Brown went to the canteen to have lunch before, faced with a squad united in their condemnation of him, Brown departed, for what is certain to be the last time. Leicester boss Nigel Pearson suspended him for the play-off semi finals, and has made clear privately he no longer wishes Brown to be a part of his squad.

Can't see Triesman lasting the week. Those comments could be damaging......and more proof that the English press want misery for England.

honestly i'm not sure what they'd do with themselves if you actually won the wc, might explode from happy thoughts, or find someway to turn it to a negative

Mackems net spend is incredible.

Gotta say though, for all the criticism Arsene gets for his frugality in the transfer market - that statistic is hugely commendable.

Triesman quits in bribes storm

LORD TRIESMAN has quit his role as England's 2018 World Cup bid chairman after a bribes storm.

Triesman, who is also chairman of the FA, is reported to have alleged that Spain was planning to bribe referees at this year's World Cup with the help of Russia, countries who are also bidding for the 2018 showpiece.

England's World Cup bid team had earlier faxed letters of apology to the Spanish and Russian football federations as well as FIFA, distancing themselves from the chairman's allegations.

Triesman's alleged comments were made in a private conversation, taped without his knowledge.

Triesman was quoted as saying. "My assumption is that the Latin Americans, although they've not said so, will vote for Spain.

"And if Spain drop out, because Spain are looking for help from the Russians to help bribe the referees in the World Cup, their votes may then switch to Russia."

Lord Triesman sent her countless affectionate texts. He described in one how he craved her company and said in another: ‘I need you’. He ended one message with ‘BKsAO’ – which 37-year-old Miss Jacobs said stood for ‘big kisses all over’.

Laurent Blanc has quit his job at Bordeaux.

I reckon he will replace Domenech as coach of the French national team after the WC.

Yeh itll be nailed on. With Chamakh off to Arsenal too, it seems like a promising team is splitting up. Can't see Gourcuff staying in that situation either.
