BottledDog
Focus Forum: What's it like to move in the transfer window? Dan Walker is joined by former players Dietmar Hamann and Robbie Savage for this week's Focus Forum to discuss what it's like to move clubs during the transfer window. Video: - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19378900 Hamann talks about his transfer from NUFC to Liverpool. Says something pertinent to our possible transfer policy of going in low which some on here like to take the piss out of. The club receiving an initial offer never accept, they will always ask for more. There is no point offering close to what you think is the true value of a player from the off. LoveItIfWeBeatU
It is pertinent but I didn't know which Transfer thread to put it in. Some people seem to think transfers are done as per Football Manager/FIFA. Offer £6M for Debuchy. Lille say no so come back with an £8m offer which is 'only' 33.333% more than our original offer! Decky
Was reading the relegation thread for what ever reason there. It's just so good to see how far we've come in that short space of time. 3 years ago we were starting out in the Championship and now we've pre match threads for European games. Reading the comments on our players back then really hit home as well, just look how brilliant and likeable our players are now compared to some of that lot. PCW1983
I wonder how many fans left at half time.... http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/aug/29/romanian-club-beaten-31-0 Cash-strapped Romanian club thrashed 31-0 by lower-league team • Young CS Buftea team were 12-0 down at half-time • Second division club had rested most of its first team A cash-strapped Romanian second division side, CS Buftea, paid the price for fielding a side of teenagers when they were thumped 31-0 by the third-tier ACS Berceni in a Romanian cup match. Buftea celebrated promotion to the second division in May, but a team containing predominantly under-19 players were on the wrong end of an avalanche of goals in the fourth preliminary round match. Buftea, located 20km north-west of capital Bucharest, had hoped to improve after a tough first half in which they conceded 12 goals – but after half-time they let in another 19. Local media reported the loss as a record defeat in Romanian football. The victorious ACS Berceni president Stephen Stana said the experience had left him feeling uncomfortable. "I'm ashamed to tell you the score. But it's not our fault that they disregarded the competition."
